Anything break action is amazing but that pistol is probably close to perfection in aesthetics.
>>
>>32192952
I'm not sure that a .357 snub makes sense to me. How much more ballistic umph are you really getting, and at what penalty to blast, flash and recoil?

That being said, the S&W 340PD is a marvel. A .357 weighing less than 12 ounces? Amazing.

Old Bridgeport and Stratford made Charter Arms snubs are neato. Avoid the ones branded "Charco" and made in Ansonia, that's when they started to have trouble.

I'd say Colt, but those are reserved for the monied classes nowadays. No breaks for the everyday working-joe hard-boiled gumshoe.

That's a cut down Enfield No2 MkI. They are chambered in .38 S&W which, given that barrel length, will have abysmal muzzle velocity. Here's my pair of No2's to show what they look like unmodified.
>>
>>32193447
This and the Enfield are about the only good thing to come from bong land.
>>
If it's your BUG in an ankle holster, I'd go with .38 instead. .357 from a snubbie is just a waste of ammo, desu senpai.
>>
>>32193447
Is it difficult finding ammo for them?

Man I LOVE my 6" GP. It's the gun I'm best with, but would not want a snub 357 if my life depended on it. It's louder than my mossberg with 3" buck and my lolmosin.

The service ammo isn't very common anymore but they can use standard .38 S&W ammunition which is still in production today.
>>
>>32193656
Agreed.
.357 or even .38+Ps from a snubbie length barrel is just burning extra powder outside the muzzle for noise and flash with no improvement in velocity.
>that extra powder just slows you reacquiring for multiple shots if needed, especially in lowlight
OPs Webley in .38/200 would probably be more efficient than .38Spec in that short tube

Aren't modern loads a bit too high pressure for it?

I think people would've thought of that problem a long time ago.

No, modern .38 S&W is loaded lighter than .380 Revolver MkII. These revolvers were proofed for 22,400 PSI - far above the operating pressure of the service cartridges which were 15,700-17,900 PSI. SAAMI maximum for commercial .38 S&W is only 14,500 PSI.

Here are some cartridges from my collection relating to these revolvers -
The .380 Mark I loaded a lead 200gr bullet at about 590-620 fps.
The .380 Mark II loaded a jacketed 178gr bullet at about 630-650 fps.

I have a 2.5" snubby - SP101 in .357mag

I love being able to shoot .38/.357

I want to get a S&W model 36 (.38) so I can pretend to be a 1920s detective

i wish something like this but nice existed i would buy 3

ive heard they are basically huge, shit trigger, horrible recoil, but i really really like what they were going for
>>

I don't think the other anon clarified, but you should know that 38 s&w and 38 special are two different cartridges.

>>32195181
Closest thing would be the brownie, to be fair what were you expecting for a steel framed .357 pepperbox?
>>
>>32193447
They say if you crimp hard enough with fine enough powder, magnum primers and on a full moon you can get velocities close to an anemic .38 load and not gas gun.
>>
>>32194584
Oh shit you made that pic?

By the way, what does 10.5mm smokeless Glisenti look like? torn down? I've heard that it had a filler of some kind to make up for the space but I haven't been able to track down a picture, did they use a filler like a card and cornmeal or something like cotton?

AHAHA! I have literally that exact same Webley. Apparently they were imported and cut down by a company in Florida. All of my research led me to the Warren Comission Report, of all places. Apparently it was the same company Jack Ruby got his gat from so that's the only place that has info on the snubby Webleys.

It's a cut down Enfield. Here is the full resolution image. The view marks and broad arrow property stamps are visible on several of the small parts and the Enfield proof stamp is visible on the top strap (an E superimposed over a D). It's a real shame this was done with such an early model - those grips indicate it was made prior to 1935.
>>
>>32195690
Yes, that's my photo. You mean the 10.4mm revolver cartridge?

The early versions called M.74 were loaded with lead bullets and blackpowder. The lead bullet was replaced with a jacketed bullet in 1890 and called the M.90 but it was still loaded with blackpowder. The case was shortened about 2mm with the jacketed bullets. When ballistite replaced blackpowder, a filler was required to take up the dead space above the powder, even with the shortened case. This took the form of the wadding you see in figure 446. This cartridge was the M.90/99. Blackpowder production did not cease immediately with the advent of the 1899 cartridge but continued in commercial production for several years into the 20th century.

>>32198634
Exactly what I was looking for. Was getting inconsistant ignition with loads and wondered how they did with it back then, should probably just get trailboss but I need to get through this powder first.

Weird seeing white smokeless powder,
knew the early formulations were the color but strange to see.
