The Jewish filters are fine. Russian ones probably not. American C2 filters have small amounts (i.e. below safety levels) of Chromium which is slightly bad for you, but should be OK to store for emergency use where you will die/be harmed otherwise. For recreational use even though C2's won't put you over exposure limits it's still wise to avoid it if you have no reason to. The newer C2A1 filters are good to go.

There's not even a remote chance of being in a situation where you'll need a gas mask, other than your house catching on fire, and even then there's more important shit to do than put on your milslurp gasmask from the 90's with a god knows how much filter just smoke and soot. At least the other gear has at least a low chance of actually being necessary in some situations.

2. practicality. i dont know how much of a pussy faggot you are but every know and then you gotta use some chemicals or do some demolition. typically ive used a dustmask or a 3m filter when the situation arises but i couldve used a stronger filter sometimes. if something comes up that doesnt exactly call for a full gas mask, well you can clean that ether spill out of your garage while looking like a soviet plague doctor and get no fumes.
