Regular sigs sometime get attached to more combative units after all, though I'm not sure if it's done in the USMIL. Seeing as it's Afghanistan, I wouldn't put it beyond them to have attached a squad or so to a isolated COP in the mountains somewhere.

We do not have much to do with the regular military forces and we usually never communicate, not amongst ourselves and especialy not with foreign military forces, unless it is something unusual, like now.
One of the reasons I prefer to ask a bunch of guys here over trying to contact someone official.
