Essentials (ammo, water and a little snack) go in whatever LBE you have, everything else gets stuffed into a rucksack.
>>
>>32175539
I mean at the end of the last thread we were talking about puches at the front vs the back.
>>
>>32175582

I can see the "no pouches at front" approach making sense in a Cold War era context (pack light, stay low and whatnot), but it's a dated concept in the current "let's make troops carry more shit than ever before" era.
Belt and yoke kits have very limited "real estate" to begin with, so why let a significant portion of it go to waste by leaving it empty?

Also, putting you're are pouches all the way back guarantees you'll never-ever be able to reach 'em on your own without taking your LBE off. This is especially true if you're wearing armor and/or bulky-ass winter clothing.

I personally run most of my pouches on the front and sides with nothing but a hydration carrier in the back.

Pardon the morbidity but it seems the only good quality photos of Azerbaijani special forces are of dead ones.
This photo is from a group that was posted of the fighting back in April, this portion is of a squad of Azeri commandos that got wasted by Armenian mortars in an open field, and several of them in addition to their knockoff MultiCam were wearing this strange pixelated pattern that resembles a mixture of the French and Portuguese lizards.
>>
I've now discovered it's from the Israeli firm Fibrotex, same company made camo for Finland. Oddly bright when it is brand new.

Only camo nets and sniper suits, never any normal uniforms. The pattern is indeed M05 as identified on a Finnish mil forum.

Yes, it's unissued surplus, a lot of it is new old stock.

No surprise there since it's a recolour of the standard m05, and not anything the FDF would use. Here's the Finnish desert pattern for comparison's sake. Interestingly, these pics are from before the copy protection on the m05 pattern was lifted. Naughty, naughty.

Probably for comfort, the H harness has better support IMO than the LC-2 harness.

You and I both. That same website is the where I found the pictures of the stupid-early 6-color desert slant pocket shirt, and the vertical tiger stripe print on top of erdl, etc.

But worth it, huh? Also, I have a feeling a lot of those days for the pictures are off. Some I found were contradicting each other, and contradicting general information about patterns as well, although I guess there IS always a chance that they're right and our info is wrong.

How does one size desert night camo? I wanted to get a parka and pair of pants, and I normally wear 36 waist jeans and my chest is 46 so I figure large, but they say they're cut large to wear over a regular uniform. The pants are a base layer by themselves and I'm just wearing a t-shirt under the parka.
>>
>>32192223
Get Med pants and Large Jacket.
>>
>>32192223

They are designed to be worn over the DBDU, and the parka is designed to be worn with the liner over the PASGT vest and DBDU coat but even then they still run fairly true to size.
Basically you should still get your normal BDU size like >>32192263 said.

Found some interesting stuff in my grandfathers' things and this seemed like the best place to post them.

I'm wondering in particular what the stars on the theater ribbon mean - I know what they mean in the context of other medals but can't find a clear answer for why you'd have multiple stars on a theater ribbon.

As a bit of backstory, he was in Europe with the 351st Engineers, which would be a relatively "boring" assignment - except that, according to his very limited diary notes, on Dec 1. 1944 he was attached to a group including the 5th Rangers, 6th Cav, 602 Tank Destroyers, and 293 Combat Eng, and didn't return to his unit until sometime in Jan.

What makes that interesting is that, during the weeks he was with those units, all of them fought in the Battle of the Bulge..

... which might explain where he got these.

They're almost certainly authentic, as he left Europe right at the end of the war, so wouldn't have been there to get scammed with fake stuff during the occupation, and it wasn't in his character to buy Nazi memorabilia anyway.

Sadly the "core" is all I found of the Iron Cross, the rest of it is nowhere to be found. No clue why it would be missing, maybe somebody else took the frame for the silver? The other medal was for the conquest of the Sudetenland.

No, they fit perfect. Jacket is 852 and trousers is 854. Keep in mind that they are purposly made 10cm too big around the waist so you can use the elastic waist band to get a perfect fit.
And if they're too long, remember that the pants are high waist.
The belt should be over your belly.
This is the way the finnish military designed these uniforms, so most likely you're just wearing them wrong, taken meassure of your lower waist before ordering or you haven't found the elastic bands yet.
Hope this cleared something up.

I want to make a Falklands War kit collection, like the one in pic related.
But I suck balls at identifying camo and clothing. All I know is that I am supposed to be looking for Temperate DPM Pattern 68 clothing.

I already have the sweater, but I have great difficulty understanding what does "smock windproof jacket parachutist parka stiff-wire-dick" mean. Can somebody explain the individual clothing items issued during the war in 1982?

That's pretty impressive if so. The 351st was a pretty boring unit and spent most of the war building airfields and hospitals well behind the lines, but some of them were definitely TDY'd to frontline units and I have diary entries where my grandfather mentions being one of those guys and says stuff like "first day of action" and "heavy shelling today, I got lucky."

I should actually post one of his little notebook things, which is really interesting because it's a GERMAN datebook with a German guy's name and info on the first page and a few German entries in pencil, and then my grandfather's name and HIS entries written into the book in blue grease pencil or something. How the hell he got some German guy's notebook and then decided to use it for himself raises some interesting questions.

As for the iron cross, that was pretty much what I figured. Still makes me wonder how my grandfather ended up with it like that, though, I guess maybe somebody stripped a pile of captured crosses for the silver and then my grandfather took the remaining core as a souvenir? The only other thing I can think of is that my mom's family was pretty poor after the war and maybe he sold the silver himself for a few extra bucks.

Observe the tags and cuts.
Note things like seams, zippers, exposed buttons, coloration, etc.,
The devil is in the detail.

Look at other people's impressions on IACMC and Wehrmacht Awards for more help on IDing them.

mine is dated 1988, and I'm very lucky because I got it from a warehouse in Moscow for dirt cheap. TTsKOs usually cost 100+ dollars even in Russia and they can even cost more than 200 dollars but I got mine for 30 dollars lmao, the seller didn't know that it was a rare uniform and thought that it's just one of those jackets used by construction workers in Russia. (many construction workers use old flora jackets)

some more TTsKOs, these TTsKOs aren't that special because they are what I call "budget cut versions". They are made of thin glassy material that people call "Steklyashka" and these are dated 1993, except my top right TTsKO which is already faded.. that one is still Soviet and it's an actual cotton TTsKO.

A majority of surplus camo clothing is going to be mixed fabric or cotton. There are also a number of wool camo sweaters floating around.

Justify why we should allow your threads to continue infesting /k/ when all you do is spam unsightly advertisements for your scams, waste server resources on off-topic discussion, and just generally bring down the quality of discussion on /k/?

Shame it doesn't really mean anything, as he was literally just replying to another tripfag. We all do the same thing. "Damage control" has became it's own meme, because fags like you see it as the "slip up" that will "finally prove that they're frauds!"

I've got one of the cotton poly flecktarn parkas in size gr nr 6? And want one of a goretex ones slightly larger in the titty area. Anyone want to point me to right size and possibly a place to purchase? Trying to figure out sizing is making my head hurt. Throw in that most websites size stuff in American sizes and you just throw the dice on how it actually fits.
