>ISIS AWPER FRAG MOVIE EDITION
How long do you think east Aleppo can last? If they really dragged their feet and fought to the death surely the rebels could hold out a while couldn't they?
also, anyone have a link to this video in full?
2 westerners killed the other day in Rojava. One of whom was my friend, Micheal Isreal (dispite the name, no echo).
Spoke to a guy who spoke to a guy who was there, early reports suggest Turkish airstrike.

VENGEANCE SOON ANON
Checking in early because reports are coming early. I have been watching but rarely mentioning a ongoing battle in eastern Homs between IS and the SAA around Shaer and sometimes by the silo checkpoint near Palmyra. Today it's near Palmyra. In fact IS shelling the outskirts of Palmyra and the SAA is responding with counter fire. It sounds like artillery duel to me. I expect Ruaf attack helicopters to respond shortly. IS may do a pic dump of these battles.
>>32173911
How's ISIS holding out in Mosul can we expect them to hold out for long?
I kinda want Aleppo to be recaptured before Mosul
>>32173928
Mosul definitely has a long way to go. Nobody predicted a quick victory there.

For the immediate future ie the next few weeks I think they absolutely keep the pressure on. They just had one massive breakthrough, if they keep going now they may be able to get another while morale is super low and before the new defensive lines can be fully established and organised. And really I don't see any reason for them to stop pushing, they have the men and resources there so why move them away unless there's either some critical reason to do so, or it's become clear after a few months that nobody is going to make any ground in either direction any time soon.

Probably for the best all round even if it would be hilarious on the one hand to watch the fireworks, but neither the ME, Europe or hell the whole rest of world really needs Turkey ending up as the next country to fall into entirely into the shitter. For all his bluster and testing the limits I think Erdogan knows he has no true friends and that if he starts shit with Russia he'll be hung out to dry by the US/NATO, and an actual shooting match 1v1 against the Russians isn't something anyone can really hope to come out of looking too great.
>but muh Article 5
Only applies when a NATO member is the victim of aggresion, Turkey is already the aggressor in Syria and you can be damn sure Putin would engineer any happenings to reinforce that status even more clearly if things get too tasty between them. Sure NATO would intervene just enough to deter an outright Russian occupation/cucking of Turkey, but simply getting a bloodied nose in any kind of conflict could well be enough to topple Erdogan, who lets not forget is still in the middle of purging huge numbers of people from state roles and trying to stamp his authority firmly on the country in the aftermath of the failed coup.
>"I can only say that a telephone conversation between our president and Erdogan took place yesterday, and the topic [of Turkeyās presence in Syria] was addressed. Yes, he [Erdogan] gave an explanation," Ushakov told reporters on Thursday, without elaborating.

And this is why westerners always fail in the mideast- you know who the players are, you have general familiarization with the various agendas, but you never seem to be grasp the interplay between all of them, what are the rules of the local game and you pay far more attention to specifics than you should.
No, Russia ignoring (or possibly missing) the Israeli attack will not effect their relations with Syria and Lebanon in any way. Everybody there knows very well when, and why, Israel attacks. They understand this game well enough to not take offence.
In the grand scheme of things, this changes nothing, and has little weight beyond lover's affairs between Israel and Iran as well as a negligible economic effect on Syria. Every party involved has ignored it and moved on.

I know damn well that the Politburo is still in absolute power, but the chinks certainly hadn't gone all manically and persistently destructive on the scale of the Great Leap Forward and Cultural Revolution since Mao turned into worm food.
The worst thing to happen since were short term protests that had little effect on China's consistent economic surge. The Politburo pretty much figured out that to stay in power, setting up mechanics for wealth generation is more effective than rallying people to simply destroy everything that doesn't subscribe to communism.

those look like turkish soldiers, story?
is Aleppo done?
>>32208171
pretty much.
It might take a while to clear the remaining districts, but at this point only a massive turkish intervention (or a large scale us air campaign) can stop the SAA i fear.

>>32208229

In their name they still are.
>>32208229
But do they execute the highest percentage of their population per year? A large number of executions means nothing when you've also got the highest population on earth.
>>32208178
SAA is still advancing from the north and east and making steady progress, although the mast days have been slower than a week ago.
They bow have a sizeable territorial buffer between the airport and rebel controlled Aleppo.
>>32208243
I wonder why they aren't attacking from the west and south as well. Especially the south looks like lots of open terrain that should be easy to capture.
>>32208138
The filename says Iraqi soldiers getting mortared by ISIS, or something along those lines.
>>32208205
>>32208246
They are, they advanced on Sheik Sa'ed recently but had to retreat.
The revel defensive lines in the south have hold. The north is different because the defenses were concentrated in Handarat. Once the place was overrun, the rebels had nothing. No deep defenses at all. Just buildings to hole themselves in.
Also, government is less than 900 meters from the citadel, from the east.
>>32208263
>No deep defenses at all.
So they sat there for 4+ years and literally did nothing? Fucking lazy sandniggers. They could have turned every single building into a bunker with tunnels and booby traps everywhere.
>>32175541
I wish I knew and had the money to take advantage of the bonanza of rebuilding in Syria after the war is over. Who to invest in if you can invest in them and shit.

Perhaps they were a bunch of idealistic arrogant twats thinking they'll be in damascus in 2 months.
>>32208231
yeah and the DDR was a democracy
>>32208268
You misunderstood.
They bet everything on heavily fortifying the front. Once a breach developed, they went into disarray and chaos.
Now they don't have enough time to properly organize and employ a good defensive line, even if there are fortifications (buildings prepared for the job) available.
But what could they do? They didn't have enough men for a deep defense. They had to use all their men in the front. Worse, they have to constantly shift men from front to front, due to the lack of manpower.
They have (and never had, since the got under siege) no possibilities of survival.
>>32208293
I did understood that perfectly. But it only shows their incompetence. One line of defense is never enough and history has proven that over and over again.
You always need some backup defenses in case you have to retreat. Thats literally baby tier of defending.
>>32208297
The problem is that the don't have enough men (and didn't) to employ several defensive lines.
>>32208324
They don't need to man 3 defense lines at the same time, especially not at full strength.
But having defensive positions prepared is important even if they are empty. They can be manned by the retreating soldiers.

>>32208297
>But it only shows their incompetence
And that's pretty much the story for everyone in this war, it's a string of wtf HOW? moments as either 'impossible to take' locations fall in hours, or as in this case 1 location falls and it's immediately apparent nobody ever gave thought for a plan B so a bunch of territory is hemorrhaged. If either side had been competent this probably wouldn't have gone on for nearly so long, what drags it out so much is constant bizarre failures costing needless ground and resources for everyone.
>>32208334
true.
>>32208329
That's true. The biggest culprit in this case was the lack of communication between rebels groups and plummeting morale.
See what happened in Hanano. One rebel group heard talks of another being defeated and retreating a little bit to regroup, so they start retreating like dumbasses from a front they're defending well. The other group that regrouped hears news of this, so they retreat like retards too. Confusion settles in, government takes everything.

At this point the possibly best outcome for them is a deal to let them retreat to Idlib.

Seems like the SAA stopped a few hundred meters short of reaching the citadel from the east, to let the rebels evacuate the area up north.
Possibly to minimize damage on that part of the city (ie. "old Aleppo").
They are now pushing those retreating rebels south.

>>32211441
Aleppo Kurds have had a truce with SAA for some time, and more recently have been actively working with them, at least while the fighting was up near their neighbourhoods.
Elsewhere it's rather more mixed, although if anything Turkey butting into the party has given them both another common problem to deal with, and more reasons to at least avoid open hostilities with each other. The day will still come when they have to decide how to sort things out between them, but whilst the rebels, IS and now Turkey continue to present a bigger problem for both they will probably try to at least remain neutral to each other for the immediate future.
