1. Fits your foot and movement
2. Can hit water puddles without getting wet
3. Water resistant material(i.e Gore-Tex), but spray to increase resistance is generally better
4. Worn enough to be nice to use
5. Not too flat tread pattern

Do you need steel toe due to work?
Then get steel toe.

If not, don't. It's dead weight and will fuck your shit up until you break your boots in.
>>
>>32171126
desu only get steel toe if your job requires you to have them (as in makes you buy them, not that you work a labor job). Some injuries that can happen that are made worse from steel toe are pretty awful. Also its just added weight.

Salomon in brown. Low cut would be better.

Also goretex is trash and wets out, also holds in sweat in wet environments so enjoy your trench foot and blisters. Light breathable footwear and good socks matter.

They sell in black and sage green too. I was lucky enough to have these as a choice during issue for deployments, best all around boot, especially for long rucks.

Son, I’ve been wearing black New Balance cross trainers as work shoes (machinist here) for years now and I’ll get a good two years out of a pair before demoting them lawn cutting shoes.

And my daily civilian wear shoes are New Balance MW978GT; light weight yet sturdy all-leather construction with a GoreTex liner and steel eyelets and speed-laces.

There's a reason New Balance are the choice of White people all over the U.S.

>Are Adidas actually comfortable?
Feet are incredibly variable. It's not like a shirt or pants where if it's a little loose or a little tight it won't make a difference, that shit will ache and blister at best. There is absolutely no answer to this in general. Adidas fit me great. I can do 8 hours on my feet in them no problem. You? Maybe. Go try some on.

If you buy shoes online without trying the same exact one in store first, you're a fucktard.

I bought a pair of Palladiums and the liners seperated from the backs of the boots so that they'd always go want to go inside out when I take them off. I don't even use them as actual hiking boots, just everyday wear.

On that note, the tread pattern picks up tons of pebbles (I'm comparing this to every other hiking boot I've ever worn) so that you have to pick them out constantly unless you want to sound like a tap dancer whenever you enter a building with a hard floor.

I have these boots and am still in the break in period. Overall I'm super happy, but I have two small complaints

>The laces are dogshit; too stiff to stay tied and waxed just enough to be slippery, and not enough to actually grip

>Lots of seams to cause leaks if the gortex membrane starts to leak, and a couple of places the upper and lower could start to delaminate

Otherwise comfy, VERY stiff, and extremely supportive. Get fitted though, your results may vary

hitting with your shin or with the ball of your foot, not punting with the toe. in a martial art where you're barefoot you can articulate at the ankle to hit with the top of the foot but that's not an option with mid height boots on.
>>
>>32184187
Even their stuff made entirely in the US or made in the US with imported parts?

These would be mostly for urban/semi-wooded travel, so I was hoping they'd last for a long time. While I think I'd do some light hiking in them if I didn't have my hiking boots, I mostly need them to be comfortable and durable for years given the moderate use I'll put them through. I currently have an old pair of waterproof Dockers boots that have finally given out after 5 years of everyday use and traveling around Africa and Asia. With all this in mind, would they warrant a sub $200 price tag?

This is a big deal for me, since I'm a poorfag and every penny I spend on my feet is one less penny I'll have to shoot out the end of my barrel.

>How are Lowa boots? I've really started to like the looks of them.

I wear Lowas both as EDC and as hiking boots.
Low shoes for EDC & high ankle supported ones for hiking.

I like them. The insole tends to wear out kinda fast if you do some heavy duty hiking, but it's easy to replace.

My biggest gripe with Lowa is that they sometimes make rather big changes to a line of shoes or boots but keep the name the same. So the fitment kinda changes a bit. Makes buying online a bit more risky than it should be.

Once I find shoes I like, I tend to buy the same over & over again.

Quick boot question. Has anyone ever tried spray painting their boots? I got these boots dirt cheap a while back, so I don't really care if I ruin them. Nothing fancy, but they're good enough for me. The problem is, people keep asking me if I'm a vet. I guess only .mil are allowed to wear tan boots these days. I just want them to be brown or some shit

5.11 a shit a shiiittt!
Seriously though I bought some about a year and a half ago the black version of one's in your pic for security work. The leather was ruined within 2 weeks and all I was doing was running up stairs and the boots just fell apart. 100% do not fucking buy them they are one of my biggest regrets.

Dye, not paint, you fucking idiot.

That would result in a superior finished product, obviously. I don't really care though. Just wondering if anyone tried it. I'll probably do it anyway

deadass this

Wouldn't surprise me too much if they do, as they feel more like running shoes than boots.
Will be interesting to see how they hold up when I'm in full gear.

Can second this, have the pair in the pic. Haven't had any issues with the goretex failing, but the laces are kinda bad. I always make sure to tie it properly, stuff them down the boots and keep my pants over the top part of the boot. It may turn the bottom part of your pants wet if it's rainy enviorment or snowy, but it works. Planning on switching out the laces now that snow is coming.

Also I was really lucky with the size, fit me perfect.

GLORIOUS WHITE'S BOOTS

>No insole, only chunk of rawhide for foot.
>What's more waterproof than leather, brass, rawhide and unfettered rage?
>No like blisters? Wear two socks.
>Shit kickers of highest order.
>Heel made of compressed hardened leather, sounds like jackboots.
>Too fucking heavy? Be less of a bitch.

In all honestly, WHITE'S boots or their cheaper, unfitted version, Hawthornes, are a solid boot with a ton of ankle support. They are heavy as fuck but they're aimed for heavy construction and backwoods firefighting/smokejumping so they have a really supportive ankle and they're durable.

Tfw those boots probably saw more action on some base in North Carolina than the jungle.
