I've seen the older bumps get turned into a can full of razor blades by gustav's, the turrets usually 'fine' in that it'll either pop off if its hit by something major, or be untouched aside from having to be hosed out from the last gunner and crew being turned into chum by finger sized, jagged bits of metal.

Also does anyone else notice the way they are mounted, seems like in all the pics where you see it they are mounted more or less in the same manner, and it seems widespread, is it just common knowledge over there,? Is there a website somewhere? or is there like one shop in yemen or somewhere that just churns these out and sales them to anyone with a bag of unmarked non descript money?

Maybe one of the old timey siege cannons and bombards they used to knock down city walls. Those threw a pretty big fucking rock (3-400lb, so bit smaller than OPs mum) and with the force of a hundred virgin r9k'ers trying to talk to a girl.
Course, it took about an hour to load, hour to cool down and sighting system was 'that random city shit over there, go fuck it up' so if the tank moved a couple of feet it would ok.

I have some Ukrainian and Russian relatives, they're definitely not 'normal' or quite on the same wavelength as other people when it comes to vehicles.

>>32174350
Ok against small arms fire, but something like a tank, recoilless round, some of the bigger anti-armour rockets or decent sized IED is going to fuck em up. The sheer amount of energy is kind of hard to describe to someone who's never seen the results of one coming down, if you ran a couple of semi-trailer trucks into each other head on at about 50km/h, that's the level of mess and mayhem they have to survive.
It'll rattle your teeth 100m away.
>>
>>32162810
Actually, it's because an armored vehicle requires maintenance and no one is getting spare parts in. Even ComBloc shit needs PMCSs and spare parts.

That and Arabs in general suck at maintenance. Armored vehicles, even BMPs are monsters for maintenance compared to a truck or tractor. Likely the guns & turrets are pulled off dead vehicles and slapped onto something even they can't manage to fuck up through neglect.

Yep, very true.
Tracked vehicles tend to have dozens of bearings and lube points in their rollers, suspension linkages and that's before Mohammed goes driving it through a desert, irrigation ditches and probably a wall or two for the last 40 odd years. Like anything, it has a service life for a reason. From memory, the BMP engines tended to be stuck somewhere inaccessible to anyone but soviet midgets and needed a crane to drag them out of their hidey hole to actually service them properly
>>

Mostly its just the little things like, lack of indicators, not using seatbelts, don't bother looking when merging and completely ignoring red lights, stop signs etc
Ukraine wasn't too bad once you get out of the cities, once in the open roads you just have to watch out for mad tractor operators and the odd semi drivers in your lane coming the other way. (Not being mean or anything!) Russia was fucking awful on a whole new level of shit drivers though, I literally watched a chick in an SUV ramp herself over a little lada-fiat thing and bury her front wheels into his windscreen. He was ok though, not happy, but otherwise fine.

Aside from that, driven-
>Iraq, around Australia (every state), halfway across the US southern states, all up the east coast of the US, Afghanistan, Saudi Arabia, China, Papua New Guinea, India, little bit of Italy and the UK.
I'm kind of a connoisseur of shit driving, don't worry- you guys aren't nearly as horrific as the Chinks or Indians (no one is)

I've been fighting in Syria last year, we've been attacked a few times with those abominations. The Kurds call them suicide trucks, ISIS is using them as VBIED. They drive through the desert towards YPG positions, and can only be stopped by a RPG used by someone skilled, or 23mm shilkas wich aren't used by the units often, everything else the Kuds use is useless against them. All you can do is run away and search cover, and hope that it's not packed with enough explosives to fuck you up in your hole.

One time, we've been defending a village approx 100km north of Raqqa, last June after the liberation of Tal Abyad and the end of the Hassakah-offensives. We've been 2 platoons in the village, about 50 men and women. ISIS attacked us with one of those suicide trucks, but only injured about 10 people, noone serious, everyone was fast enough to run away. 5 days later, in the early morning, there was another one of those things driving towards our left flank. Our commander told us to run away, as they were about to pull the same shit again. Turned out they weren't, this time there were fighters inside it. With that trick, they basically took half the village without any resistance. We set up a new defence line and kept fighting for almost 20 hours. At the end of the day, we lost 21 men and women, and only survived cuz the USAF started attacks at noon and saved our asses.

If it looks stupid but works, it's not stupid.

Pic related is YPG made. They use bulldozers. Ignore the date, there was almost no power anywhere, and everytime i turned on my phone i set up date & time randomly.

Not to mention that the glass will hinder vision when shot.

Maybe have a bunch of cones with cameras at the tip, and are quickly replaced.

From the inside, you'd see what essentially are camera cartridges in the walls, and when they get damaged, you can pull it out of it's armor cone and insert a new one.

you know, back in 2015 i had my first enemy contact at Tel Tamer. We've been fighting for assyrian villages for like 2 weeks, pushed the fucking jihadis towards the Abdulazziz mountains, liberated the mountains and every piece of dirt on the way there, got moved to Serê Kaniyê, and spent 2 months making our way west towards Tal Abyad. On June 15th we moved into the town as a parade, and opened the corridor to Kobanê by that, welcoming the hevals that fought around Kobanê. I remember the first time we had radio contact with the forces on the other side of the corridor. Those were glorious days man, i'll never forget that.

Now i gotta read shit about Turkish soldiers and roach backed FSA moving "towards" Tal Abyad, and Skirmishes in and around Hessekeh. Shit's grinding my fucking gears.

If you decide to go back, make sure you really want it. I know a lot of volunteers got home and back to Rojava again, but there's also a few that are still not allowed to return by their governments.

My loadout was nothing but an Izmash AK made in 1964, fresh out of the box when i got it. Plus 5 mags and 2 Soviet grenades. I've also been Piksici from time to time as we were alternating in my unit, that's what the Kurds call their machine gunners. With neither a belt nor an ammo case, been towing that fucking PK through the desert with 200 rounds around my neck, looking like the fucking Kurdish rambo. Got my first confirmed kill with that one.

I've seen a lot of interesting guns, K98 with original scopes, Mosin, all kinds of AK from 47 to the rare 101, M4 and M16A2, also Finnish sniper rifles and Chinese anti-material ones, don't remember the types or names of those tho. Also pickup or truck mounted DHSK. And shotguns. Tons of shotguns, every farm or village had a few we had to confiscate. Most being very cheap crap, but we once found a very nice italian doublebarrel with a nice handmade engraving. Nice toys to play with, but totally useless in desert warfare.

The most interesting being the YPG made anti-material rifles, made from DHSK barrels. They have them in 12.57, 14 and 23mm, the 23mm being nothing less than handheld artillery. Pic related is a Shiyar, the 12.57 version.. correct me if i'm wrong on the caliber. The PSL next to it was the most common sniper rifle you find in Syria.

>Tons of shotguns, every farm or village had a few we had to confiscate.

...why?
>>
>>32187599
We did that once we left Kurdish settlement area and entered Arab land, and you can't trust those Arabs. They were numbered and stored safely tho, so the farmers could pick them up once the area was totally secured and the people confirmed for not being ISIS supporters.

the welds are much higher quality than Chinese or Mexican welds
good on them for actually trying their best, though there's much to improve on

the scope is for shooting at length. Far away. If you shoot up close the scope is giving you an inaccurate representation of where your shot will go. a veteran sniper would know this, unlike the dumbass in the webm, and you.

>>32162703
love how they actually numbered it
just in case they'll ever make so many they loose track of them.

When they get up to 99 people should be worried.

In Sandistan they stick old beardy blokes and some kind of inspiring moon runes on the side
I can only imagine my old unit if they got the job 'hey guys, go make an armoured vehicle' you'd come back to something equally silly except it would have desert digi-penis camo, some slutty pinups to distract the enemy with and 'Cunt Destroyer 01 somewhere on it.

>implying he couldn't just barrel sight
>implying if he's used to that rifle there's any single damn reason to remove his scope if he's barrel sighting the dude from 3 yards away
>implying the flash of the guy's face through the scope served any practical purpose than creative flair for the film

You seem buttmad that he pulled it off so flawlessly. Seriously just stop before you make yourself look even more stupid.

I kind of want to see what they're firing out of this. Is it an artillery shell they just pulled out of its casing? Are they packing powder and wadding behind it?

I doubt they're casting their own cannonballs, that would be a serious pain in the ass.

I know digging holes sucks, especially on that hard clay shit but a 1m trench would stop that thing in its tracks

Pro I think thats a DSHK, definitely bigger than a PKP. Not saying this to be a cock, saying it because the realization makes it even cooler.

I don't know if it's actually a real historical cannon. It looks like as if it's manufactured in two parts, with a barrel recoiling inside a cannon-looking sleeve.

Wasn't that only for transportation and not for firing, though? I could swear I read somewhere that it has to be unmounted to be actually used.
>>
>>32189704
well actually there were trenches in most positions. protocol after liberating a village was:

-search everything for IEDs and other surprises
-get a heavily armed bulldozer
-collect all the bodies
-let the bulldozer dig a hole and bury them
-spend the rest of the day/night digging trenches with the bulldozers, towards the enemy - and throw up the earth to a wall behind the trench

in the best case, we would only let 1 street open into and out of the village, and make a small wall on that street that cars have to slow down and carefully drive around.

that's what YPG does when they liberate a village, at least in the best case. but often, they just can't do it properly. some of those villages have only a few huts, but there's so much distance between them that it's hard to close the circle. and in some regions, the ground is so fucking hard or stony that it's just not possible. or it's the plan to move on to the next village just in a few hours, in that case we spent that time without any fortifications.

>heavily armed bulldozer

well that would be pretty cool i guess, but what i actually wanted to say is heavily armored bulldozer

Yes there is a tripod somewhere on the bike and you have to assemble the thing to fire it. +100% security, -100% cool factor

As radical as that would be, there's sadly no way that the vespa driver could shoot that at, say, buildings or other vehicles while also driving. Would make a fantastic action movie scene tho
