I have recently started travelling to Texas a couple times a year for business, and in my down time like to check out the local gun shops. Last year I went to Austin and didn't really like it, this time it's Dallas. Anyone familiar with which shops in the downtown they like the best, widest inventory, friendliest fudds, etc.? A firsthand reference from a /k/ dweller means more to me than some Yelp review or google picture.

You're going to want to get out of downtown to find the best stores/ranges. Head north. Plano, Lewisville, Frisco.

I would recommend White Wing Armory in Plano. Small shop but super friendly and knowledgable.

Downtown is garbage but I hear this place called Modern Outfitters is pretty nice.
Up north there are a bunch of small and friendly gunshops.
I personally go to Mr. Guns in Plano and shoot at the Frisco Gun Club.
I hear Rifle Gear is pretty nice place too.
People always talk about Cabelas but t b h I think its a fudd store.
