>7.62x39 ARs

Is there anything more autistic /k/?
>>
>>32154523
No they're pretty great. Same goes for 5.45 ARs

cheap to shoot and more modularity than AKs
>>
>Is there anything more autistic /k/?

You.
>>
>>32154543
With all the modern day after market parts availible for the AK,yu basically can compete neck and neck with an AR in terms of modularity and customability. There is literally no reason to have an 7.62x39 AR.

>Side-rail scope mounts
>Nothing free-floats
>Ergos can potentially go from unbridled shit to meh at best
>You look like a giant sperg by tacticooling an AK

Yeah, no.
>>
>>32154586
>side rail scope mount, good ones are $150+
>no side rail on your AK? dogleg it is, have fun holding zero
>want a vertical foregrip? Get a romy furniture set, or shell out $300 for a quad rail set
>stock options: $20 tapco shit or $300 folding surplus stocks.

you're retarded.
there's a reason russia's new designs are basically turning into piston driven AR's.

They're all coming with the m4 stock adapters, quad rail forends, theyre chambered in 5.45, and they're all getting doglegs.

It's a dumb point I know, but the biggest thing keeping me from really wanting a x39 ar are the stupid looking mags.
>>
>>32154543
Aren't there issues with the bolt carriers on those guns?
>>
>>32154829
I haven't noticed any. I would suggest getting something in at least a midlength gas system if you're gonna go 7.62x39, to minimize the pressures.

I love my M&P15R though, shoots very smooth and I've had no issues with it at all. Plus the 5.45 mags don't look quite so awkward
>>
>>32154906
Shorter length gas systems are actually ok for 7.62x39 ar's because of the increased volume of the thirty caliber bore and a few other traits of the cartridge itself. Middy gas on a 16 inch barrel needs a ridiculous gas port size to run reliably.
>>
>>32154726
Nah, they are just modernized AK, since they can still be into folding stock.

The AK15 is just an AK74 with rail anyway.
>>
7.62x39 is a garbage round and is only acceptable in an AK platform just because it's apart of it's history

It's like .45 ACP. It's a garbage round, but if you chamber a 1911 in anything other than .45 ACP you should be lynched.

That's just like your opinion man

The 762 mag angle is ugly enough on aks, looks absolutely disgusting on an AR.
Up to 20rd capacity, 762 mags look downright attractive, after that it's just repulsive to me. It's my favorite intermediate round to shoot overall though, I just use mags that make my gun look good to me.
>>32155062
762 does exactly what it's supposed to do. Just because it drops faster after 400 or so yards doesn't make it trash. On my 1/8in hardened steel, just based on damage done, I really wouldn't know whether I was shooting 762/556/545 at my steel out to that distance. None of them seem to hold enough energy to do more than slightly dent it. 762 definitely hits hardest though judging by both the clank, and how it'll spin the discs more. But 556 beats the pants off all of them when it comes to punching through steel, hard or soft. 545 is a distant second, and 762 is a distant 3rd, even compared to 545. Speed makes the difference I guess.
>>
>>32154829
No, but the bolts are kind of weak on a lot of them. They have no problems containing the mild cheap steel cased shit, but if you load them with high pressure hunting ammo, or maxed out handloads you can have issues with cracking locking lugs.
>>
>>32155097
Because there are so many AK-12s on the civilian market mirite?
>>
>>32155246
You can modify your SLR107 into it.
Just need M4 stock converter and dog leg rail.
>>
>>32154523
>is there anything more autistic
a 7.62x39 AK
>>
>>32155246
The Vepr-12 is a lot like an AK12 in shotgun form.
>similar furniture
>still has a folding stock, even if some are welded in place
>integral top rail
