a-u-g is the right way to say it but owg is generally accepted and makes much more sense to me

F - A - L is the right way to say it and im okay with that one fall-fail-fowl rifle sounds kinda fucky even though it would be easier to say in one syllable.

You'd be surprised by the amount of people who don't know the differences between 39, 51, and 54r, or people who do but can't be assed to listen properly for the important part. Americans tend to pronounce acronyms where possible, so "aug" makes sense. No common words sound like "aug," whereas "fal" sounds like a lot of common words.

I generally say the first number as a single digit (seven) then say what's after the point all together (sixty two) then by and the digit after that together too (thirty nine) I think saying the point out loud is a bit autistic. Especially with calibers like .30-06

After I bought an AUG I said "A - U - G" because I thought it made me seem cool.

It didn't. Now I just say "ogg" or "ogg A-3". Language is supposed to be efficient. If you say something and people know what you're talking about, it's sufficient.
