That stack of 5.45 was only like $2300 delivered 4 years ago :(
>keeping it that close to your garage door
that shit's gonna get stolen by some idiot with a pickup truck as soon as SHTF

Not 4 years ago, try more like 6+ if you were an average online shopper like me.
2009/10 were the last good years for 545 buying. Even then, you wouldn't have found it online for much less than 240/crate, plus another 35 for shipping.

>saving the tops of spam can tins
I thought I was the only autist who did this, they look really nice as decoration in the mancave. I keep the tins too, I've been making them into clocks using Soviet nixie tubes.
>stacking all your ammo right next to your garage door.
It's like you want it to all get stolen.

Pics of sweet retro clocks or gtfo.
Perfect. How would you guys recommend storing many thousands of rounds? Specifically, 5.56. I purchased some cans and 30rd boxes, just need to get the clips, and I'm wondering if there is a better way.
I've also thought about neatly stacking them loose in the cans, as well as just buying heavy-mil bags and throwing them in there.
I'm curious what everyone else does.

1k 5.56 on strippers/1200 loose in a standard .50 caliber can, 1800 loose in a m249 can. Could fit a lot more if you were super tidy. Image is from arfcom
I keep all my mags loaded so that's maybe another 4,500 rounds in the closet.

Do you really think someone would do that? Just go on the internet and tell lies?

Cool, man. Thanks. I should have bought this shit with the clips, shouldn't have bought loose. I'd at least have more options to consider.
I'll have to play around with a few different configurations, but I will probably just go with that, but lining the can with a heavy-mil plastic bag for easier removal/scratch prevention..

Whole room dedicated to my ammo stash

By end of next year I will have about 700sqft of basement dedicated to funs and food storage. just have to move lines for laundry into other basement area. Brick wall already in place. Just need to install heavy duty door and lock, finish getting shelving up, work bench, reloading station. Pretty excited
