Would you guys use .22lr as self defense?
Sure, if it was the most powerful round I had available to me.
>>32143780
R.I.P anon
he used a shitty unreliable round and was killed by a five-year old
If it's all I had, sure.
Head shot is quickly lethal
A few COM hits should be game over quickly too
Better than nothing and a shot to the CNS or heart will put someone does all the same.
>>32143795
This. There are better options but beats a knife or bare hands
if i had a fullretard with a 200 drum mag and 2000+ rof, sure
Yes.
Mag dumping into someone's dick will kill/ crumple the pelvis/stop anybody.
If you can magdump a fist sized hole from common firefight distance you have a huge portion of the fight already won.
Of course! I bet you didnt know this OP, but .22lr is more lethal than other rounds because it bounces around inside the skull when you shoot someone in the head
yes, all I have at home is a .22lr bolt action
and yes I'm in Europe, at least I'm finally has guns
I wish I had an American 180 for HD
>>32144354
Congrats fellow hasguns eurobro.
Which country?
.22lr is viable. Not as viable as other cartridges. But it's still a piece of metal traveling faster than the speed of sound. It'll actually travel up (or down) through bone marrow if it hits just right. It's actually a somewhat scary round when you really think about it.
>>32144987
Europe (united Arab empire of)
if you aim for the head the bullet bounces around inside the skull causing massive damage
>>32143780
Just aim for the head, the bullet will bounce around and scramble the brain up into mush.
The .22 is a very efficient round when it comes to weight and lethal capability.
>>32143780
My first carry gun was a .22
I was young and stupid and listened to the advice of gang bangers...
It was a fun piece and I still have it, but fuck me if I ever had to use it
>>32143780
For a backup pistol sure. For my primary carry no.
22lr is the assassins round of choice, it takes very little shooting expertise to fire 22lr, you can fire off much more rapidly as you dont have to recover from recoil. It wouldnt be my first choice but it does get the job done
>>32145006
>American spotted
>>32143780
For defending my garden against gophers
>>32145214
>Not just vaporizing them with your large-calibur hunting rifle
>>32145095
This. Just got a .25 for deep concealment
Sure. .22lr goes fucking fast. Wouldn't be my first defensive pick but hell, it's a live round.
I've heard negative things about carrying rimfire though so be careful if you're planning on carrying one, OP.
If my P22 wasn't such unreliable garbage I probably would have carried it by now for shits and giggles.
As a primary self defence no. But i don't shit on the .22lr as a round cause a patient of mine got shot 5 times in the leg. Nothing in COM but it broke his femur which is almost as hard as concrete
>>32143780
Sure.
>>32145241
This. Breaking the long bones of the arms and legs is utterly incapacitating and not the kind of thing you can just man up and fight through regardless of how drugged up you are. A single .45 to center mass may or may not stop an enraged attacker, but out of a dozen .22 hits, you're practically guaranteed one that's instantly incapacitating (brain/spinal column, humerus, scapula, pelvis, femur).
>>32143780
Any gun is better than no gun
>>32143780
Sure. Not my first choice, but it'll do the job. It can certainly kill, but it doesn't even need to to do that in a self-defense role.
>>32145011
*triggered*
>I took da bait
>>32145056
What was it? Was it a Jennings 22?
My carry gun is a 32 ACP Walther PPK
which is basically a centerfire .22
Of course. Hypervel hollowpoints FTW.
>>32143780
if i couldnt get a 45, yes
>>32145372
Except that .22 doesnt penetrate deep enough to reliably destroy the central nervous system and its foolish to rely on incapacitation through destroying bone
>>32145806
That would be 25ACP.
Your 32 with decent ammo is on par with a 380. Good penetration with FMJ. Don't even bother with JHP, it either won't expand or if it does it will cause very shallow wound channels.
>>32145372
Wouldn't a heart/aorta shot stop someone within a couple of seconds?
>>32145012
This
>>32145775
an Erma .22 Luger. It was made of pot metal and jammed every six or so shots but I loved the thing. Gave me tons of street cred with the Aryan Nation guys who thought it was the real thing
Bump.
>>32143780
I'm always carrying 2 guns, pic related is my backup gun.
>>32145225
>Not spaghettifying them with custom made explosive shotgun shells
>>32145303
>Pocket 22
>Not swimming in 22
Only of your a bitch.
>>32146554
>economists uncover the real reason behind 22lr shortages
A full auto .22lr with a 100rd drum would be bretty gud for HD.
You could put like 50 shots on target with one good burst.
Stopping power like crazy.
>>32146932
till one didn't go off
>>32146946
Keep it loaded with high quality ammo and it wouldn't be a huge concern i don't think.
Assuming the gun isn't a piece of shit.
>>32146946
Double barrel with a single breechblock. You'd have to have both fail simultaneously.
>>32143780
so long as its the brand my ruger likes
>>32143780
If there was nothing .380 caliber or larger available, yes.
if it was the last available option to me, yes.
