The new zealand air force scrapped its strike wing in the 90s and can't into expensive planes.
What would you buy if you were in charge? I was thinking AT6s or something like the F20

They're not looking for anything.
But on the market.
There's a dedicated LIFT/light attack/recce like
FA-50, L-159, Scorpion, M346 and Hawk
There are turboprops designed for light attack like
EMB 314 Super Tucano, AT-6 Wolverine and IOMAX's Archangel

>F20
Want to know how I know you're retarded?
Just strap a .50 cal on a cessna

I'm aware it never reached production, I said something like the F20 as in something like a light jet powered multirole that can strafe illegal fishing boats and carry out light anti air until australia turns up

Mostly this with some cheapo helicopters, light cargo, and pic related.

Serious question.
All of these meme COIN props -- why do they all have the engine up front? Surely it would make more sense to have a pusher prop in the back so that they can make the entire front a bubble canopy for full unimpeded visibility?

You dont see it in flight, anon
Pusher props have pretty poor performance, its not worth the hassle really
New Zealand used to have MB-339's, what happened to those? Honestly the MB-339 is about as potent as you can get for a light fighter, its even cheaper than the super-tucano

Boeing 767

Were considered to be too difficult to reintroduce into service, and most pilots were laterally recruited into other operational fighter squadrons.
Also public opinion was still quite against military spending and more for social services spending.
In the end, we fussed around too much and sold them for a small price when we probably should have kept them. But in terms of performance the T6 is actually almost on par with it, its just that it is a trainer at the moment
