What are the best FMJ bullet weights for defense as it pertains to the 'Big 5' (.45 Auto, 10mm Auto, .40 S&W, .357 SIG, 9mm NATO) handgun cartridges of locked breech semi-autos?
I know some people automatically disregard FMJ as a proper means of self defense, but in areas where four legged creatures can also be a problem, I'll take the extra penetration.
I was thinking something along these lines... Note that none of these rounds are particularly 'hot' for their respective cartridges.
9mm NATO: 124 Grain, ~1,150 FPS
.357 SIG: 140 Grain, ~1,350 FPS
.40 S&W: 180 Grain, ~1,000 FPS
10mm Auto: 200 Grain, ~1,050 FPS
.45 Auto: 230 Grain, ~870 FPS (950 +P)
If you were carrying FMJ ammo in the round of your choice, what would your preferred weight be?

a .32 in a decent loading like Fiocchi becasue I may as well max out concealibility

I carried Fiocchi FMJs then Leigh came out with these. Haven't had any issues with them in my Walther.
FMJ goes all the way through regardless, might as well use the lightest grain available.

Those are way lighter than fiocchi fmj's in that caliber, already a very light weight to start with. I'm pretty sure those lehigh ones in that caliber are just made for rabbits and squirrels.

Heavy for the caliber.

Looks like a baby bottle, or a nipple.
>10mm Auto: 200 Grain, ~1,050 FPS

That's hot. Ammo in OP's list isn't. Pretty sure he got the 10mm number from PMC's 200 grain loading.

It's normal. If it's less it's neutered ammo designed to be used in all 10mm's, for liability reasons, which includes the non case supported Colt Delta Elite. Underwood just makes ammo and says don't use in the shitty Colt.

Meme cartridges aren't in the running -- especially when there's literally only a few guns that are available in those calibres. .380 and .22LR have more of a claim than those other two. And if you are talking about handguns in general, .38Spc, .357 Mag, and .44 Mag are much more popular.
