well maybe not elementary school science but i've been a protective coatings specialist for a few years. doing a shitty dirty science fair anodizing project is easy. doing a quality, even anodizing job with even mils, proper sealing and good quality isnt, without a kit. but a kit will do a lot. Really though dont be intimidated by it, its like putting together an ikea bed. follow the steps, safety first, you'll get through it no problem.
