I had a guy a year ago try selling me a lee enfield "sniper" with a shitty tesco scope and modern mount with mismatching AND damaged topstock for $600

He claimed it's worth because while it didnt have the original scope, it HAD the original scope at one point and "that's what matters."

I fucking hate greasy table vendors sometimes.

Do TX gun shows have a serious problem with old fudds asking crazy prices for worthless nuggets? I love nuggets but I know what they are worth and some of these old fudds think non numbers matching M44's with beat to shit stocks and rusty bolts are worth $500. It's annoying as fuck.

To be fair, my asking price was kinda high. I originally took the gun to a number of shops, one of which specializes in old stuff, and was told that the gun was only worth 4 or 5 hundred becasue of the condition that it's in. The best offer I got from a shop was 250, but even they recommended that I take it to a show and try to sell. I started at 400 becasue I knew I was going to get lowball offers. I got into the show for free, picked up a few things I wanted, and generally had a good time, and my net profit at the end of the day was $265, so I'm not complaining.

I actually saw a good number of M44s today, average price seemed to be about 450-500, all in good condition. Only like one guy had any 91/30s, and they were 275, but also in good condition and they came with all the normal bits and pieces.

The only relay outrageous thing I saw was a guy selling beat to shit Turkish Mausers for 600.

I almost dropped 450 on an M1 Carbine. It was labeled as "Unissued" and came with 2 mags and a box of ammo. The gun looked almost factory new, but the stock didn't look like any wood I've ever seen on an M1 (it was kinda gray-ish with a very pronounced grain) and had a metal heat shield in place of the top fore guard. Something about the gun and price just didn't sit well with me, too good of a deal and the guy seemed very eager to sell it, so I didn't but it.

those are shit prices. Matching numbers M44's (even in today's market) are worth $300 max, unless it's a real deal never issued/fired gun. I'd never pay more than $200 for a 91/30 but market max for them is really $250. You can get M39's for $400~ pretty regularly.

Texas gun shows are notably awful. Last Houston one I went to had .50cpr XM193, .15cpr .22lr, $20 per mag for fucking HK91's. Terrible milsurp selection, and the stuff that was there was priced terribly and in even worse condition.

I was vacationing around and went to my first gun show in Jacksonville. That's when I learned that if you stay up late at night and watch the knife infomercials where they sell 500 knives for $25 people buy them and try to resell them at gun shows.

The sad truth about gun shows in Texas. I've never been to a gun show anywhere else, but if theyre like gun shows in Texas -- don't bother.

Better to make ties in the local community with fellow gun owners.

I made a decent sale at a gun show one time, but otherwise it was overpriced guns and silver dollars.

Don't buy silver dollars at gun shows either unless you know what you're doing,

Gun shows are really of limited use for /k/ommandos, in my opinion.

The first gen Universals are all recycled GI parts except for the stock, barrel and receiver. These guns are actually pretty decent.

After that, the company started cutting costs and the quality fell off accordingly. Later guns are either jam-o-matics or they have problems going "bang".
