just got done taking my AR pistol to the range to zero my optic. first two mags did great. then decided to do some "ready up" drills. after two mags the rings came loose and the scope rotated. this is the second time I've had an optic do this on this pistol.

Has anyone else had this issue with AR pistols?

I don't even have this kind of issue with my Cetme.

Like I said, prebuilt just because it was my first one, and I wanted to go basic because of that. It ran me $900, which I considered a pretty good price.

Now that I'm looking at the price of an ACOG that is expensive for what I'm using this for. Maybe once I have more experience with AR's in general I'll go for it.

That's odd. Did you locate the scope rings when you installed the scope in them? Do you have two leapers scopes or are you switching one scope between two sets of rings?
Also, I may be mistaken, but Leapers makes airsoft parts mostly. They're not exactly known for being high quality.

What do you mean by locate them? Both mounts are cantilever style. One from leapers and the other from P.A.

Supposedly they're trying to change that. They just built a new facility (in Michigan I think). Only a year or two old with brand new CNC machines. I don't know if I'd trust they're red dots. But after being hounded by my LGS, I decided to give they're cross hair optics a try. Only issue I've had is with my AR. But I think it's more the gun though as it did the same thing with a micro dot that's had quite a bit of F/A use on it.

I've thinking for awhile now that I need to change out the buffer and possibly the spring. Pretty sure it's a standard carbine buffer and spring. I've also heard that 10.5 barrels have a larger than standard gas port that supposedly makes the recoil harsher (?).
