it was probably a squib. Ammo was either compromised or made incorrectly, and so it didn't have enough power to make it out of the barrel. Then you fire a full power round while the barrel is plugged and you're in for a bad day.

Knocked out the casing and handed back his rifle, then noticed the case. Motherfucker had loaded .223 into his 7.62x39 AK because his buddy had been shooting tula out of his AR on the same bench, must have grabbed it by mistake.

I can see the dropping part though. The Desert eagle, while it doesn't recoil that much is pretty damn loud, particularly if you get the model with the muzzle brake. I usually go to a friends property or rent out an outdoor range for myself when I go shooting. I just dont trust other people with loaded guns around me... I also had some ninjas drop the slide and pull the trigger on an assumed empty beretta 92 pointed in my direction. they fired off a magazine, slide locked back, guy dropped slide, turned the gun down the firing line towards me and pulled the trigger. What if he had been riding the slide stop and caused the gun to lock open on a mag with ammo still in it? someone would have been shot.

usually if its originally chambered for 556 it can also fire 223, this however does not work in the opposite way, a 223 rifle shouldn't shoot 556 through it. The main differences between the two is that the 556 has a higher max pressure and a slightly wider and longer casing. Its basically the same rules as shooting 38 special through a 357 revolver. you just cant shoot a 357 through a 38
