I think conscription for males aged 18-20 for a year is a good idea. The State takes them in and teaches them some discipline and the basics of a trade, with scholarships available for the ones who do well. Try to retain the best/brightest/most motivated.

Anyway, equip with K2's if I'm trying to stay more in the middle, or AK's if I'm closer to China. If I want to improve relations with the US, I'll buy my rockets from there and start making 5.52 FAL's in-country.

Uniform: Modern or next-gen camo. Maybe buy some surplus from the US or CAN, steal the print and just do my own cloth from there but with my own patren.

Dress: Something more formal but not too dressy. Don't want to appear elitist.

Primary weapons: ARX-106, M-4, HK-416, HK-417, AK-100 series. Whatever is available or, if I have all of them, whatever my troopers feel works for them.

my whole military would be designed around highly mobile mechanized infantry units. travelling in LAVs and MATVS. They would be supported by dedicated close air support assets, paratroopers, and special forces who specialize in urban combat/compound raids.

Stuff for forests, stuff for snowy areas, and stuff for deserts, kept in storage in case for some reason the troops go to other nations. As for home camo, probably forest during the Summer/Spring/Fall months, and blue/white camo once there's snow on the ground.

If I'm a new dictator, there's a lot of shit to do and there's a lot of money that's going to be needed. This loadout, to me, seems fairly affordable but still very much effective on a modern battlefield.
