Not going to be a popular answer here, but I really like shooting wabbits with my great-grandfather's .22lr revolver or my grandfather's .410 Mossberg Ranger.

Lead solids are good enough

COM or head shot, and it'll put them down.

.17s and higher velocity .22LRs (Stingers) cause too much meat damage and send lead fragments throughout it; head shot is fine, of course

Shotguns with mid-sized birdshot work too for jump shooting, but I hate digging out pellets

But if you want to chart anti wabbit/feral cat/ground squirrel weapons according to some platonic ideal, the .410 is still the best. Especially if it is a bolt action that says Savage on it.
