Is this the right board to ask questions involving authentification of military sabres? Or should I go to another board like /tg/ for not guns?

Because my uncle came across a modified Wilkinson sabre, and I need to determine if this is indeed a Wilkinson and what model it is.
And no, I can't find a serial number

Will post 2 or so more pics, unless this topic is verboten

Looks like a semetic alphabet, definitely not Greek.
>>
>>32118786
Yeah, apparently one of my uncles stole the original from my mom, messed with it, replaced the hilt with an elk antler, gave to another uncle, who then showed it to me.
My mom does not care what happens to it either way, since its not really hers anymore

I however really want to know what this bloody thing was originally supposed to be, so I can have a name for it that isn't "Frankensword"
>>
Looks legit, I dig the Shashka-esque look the antler gives it.

No, this is what /k/ lives for.

i see, i didnt think it would be a military sabre with the antler handle, but i dont know shit about swords. makes sense.

Damn you're good.
I was looking at the different cyrillics when it turns out to be Ethipian/Eritean. Script is from the Ge'ez language.

If /k/ can't help, try the grognards at MyArmoury.com.

Combined with the Star of David plus coming from North Africa, I'm going to guess that it originated from Beta Israel.
>>
>>32118873

That's a star of Damascus. An old ass proof mark from when back when. The Jews stole it.
>>
I think it's some kind of Gurade sabre, not sure about specifics though
>>
>>32118884
>>32118921
Well, that answers a few questions, now that just leaves what the letters actually say, what Semitic language in specific it is (considering Ge'ez is used for different languages), when and why the heck Wilkinson was making swords for Ethiopians/Israelites, if it really is Wilkinson, and what style of sword the original was.

So, anyone speak Ethiopian?

Hello, I am Prince Takinyamunny. I have been exiled from my homeland by rebel scum and needs to move my 6,000,000$ to Amerika befores the rebel scum find it. If you provide me with your banking account of information I wlll move this moneys into your accounts for safekeeping while I relocate statesides. In exchange for this courtesy, I will compensate you with 150,000$ American.

>close enough?
>>
>>32119146

That's a star of Damascus. Pretty much all European and American swords swords from the 19th century that have been etched will have one. It's a proof mark indicating the sword is made to military specifications.
>>
>>32118780
It's Ethiopian

Hi OP,
On the one side you got a British makers mark (your pics are shite, so no real identification there),
The six pointed star is the seal of Salomon, common sign amongst brittish officers of the time, plus the original owners initials.
Not sure what the scripture is. could be African or Caucasian (Georgian?)
Interesting piece.
Likely a reused British officers sable blade.
Treat your blade well, make better pictures and ask on swordform or myarmouries.
