This or a M1917. I prefer the sights on the M1917, but either would be a great rifle to get if ammo availability is limiting your options.

assuming youre in the US....

get an M1917 Enfield. One of if not the best rifle of WW1/WW2, takes .30-06 which is infinitely abundant here, and easy to reload if you get into that. capable of taking down any game in north america should you ever decide to hunt with it.

plus its cheaper than the 1903 and has better sights.

OP, if you get any of these milsurp rifles chambered in 7.62x51mm, don't shoot .308 out of them. They are interchangeable but .308 is higher pressure and could damage the rifle.
