On the Thin Red Line, Ive been on the fence of how realistic its depiction of combat was, in one hand it seemed super gritty and chaotic but then I feel it was over the top and almost cartoonish with all the meme actor cameos

>>32106711
It's a little cheesy, but the battles were pretty good. Sam Elliott probably best actor in it.
>>
>>32106321
outside of the one battle scene flags of our fathers is extremely boring. letters from iwo jima is a little better.

the problem with majority of "war" movies is that they are dramas set during a war. a proper war movie should have thriller and horror movie elements. the main characters shouldn't escape unscathed and you shouldn't leave the theater chanting "america fuck yeah." the movie is supposed to wear you down and stick with you for days/weeks afterwards.

this is why saving private ryan is generally regarded as one of the best war movies. you're dropped into a grizzly opening scene. then for half the movie you're introduced to all the characters and for the second half you watch the bulk of them die. the ending is still bullshit, but without it i doubt the hollywood kikes would have greenlit the movie.

Those made during the war rarely criticized it, and Deer Hunter shows the horrors of being a soldier there, while Apocalypse burdens the corruption in the army, the colonization and the drug usage. Apocalypse now is more a film on war than a war movie.
>>
>>32107117
True, but I think its hard to build suspense as a reboot when the audience is aware of what the Predator(s) can do. Quality, I thought they had some nice touches and managed to do some callbacks without throwing it in your face. Only the IDF Sniper was kind of a drag, the Russian and inmate were bretty cool.

Definitely should have gotten a PSG-1 like what was in the script, wonder why they had to use a Blaser.

however, even when i rewatch the original predator for the Xth time i still feel excitement while the new Predatos is more like Alien vs Predator in that regard, it has awesome scenes but the movie as a whole can't compare

~Grey Anderson encounters a Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) camp outside of Topeka, where he learns that the attack on New York City was foiled by alert New York City Police Officers who shot the would be bomber before he could detonate the nuclear bomb that he had hidden in the back of a van. Mayor Green reports that the NYPD captured the van in New York with a 20 kiloton nuclear bomb on board. But Washington D.C. has been successfully attacked by a bomber. On the way back from the FEMA camp, Anderson's car is stolen by 12 looters and he is forced to walk home to Jericho on foot. Anderson also reports that Lawrence, Kansas has been attacked. Robert Hawkins receives a morse code message on a ham radio stating that Denver, Atlanta, Chicago, Philadelphia, Kansas City, San Diego, and several more cities not shown on screen have been attacked. A black box flight data recorder that Jake recovers from a crashed airliner indicates that air traffic control is non existent, a mushroom cloud is rising 60 km into the atmosphere and that flashes have also been sighted towards Texas.~

So it's a coordinated nuclear non-missile attack.. with no outside invasion followup?

In what way? EOD units have, and will continue to use .50 BMG rifles as a means of blowing up explosives. It's not beyond the realm of possibility that someone with an EOD background could counter snipe a goatfucker in Sandcrackistan.

Always liked 13 hours, secret soldiers of benghazi. Lone survivor isnt too bad either, kinda hollywoody, but still a great movie, GOAT music. American Sniper is the ultimate hollywood, I still like it for what it is. Also if you ignore the drama around the real person, and just cobsider it a fictional movie, its pretty good.
