Communists had way more people than the US did, that's why americans lost the Korean war (secured just half of the fucking country, Best Korea managed to trap half of the population into the regime of communism by a gook-overgrown-kid.), China helped also. They had lots of people to spare to just throw at the fortifications set up by the US/Koreans, that's the same tactic the Soviets used during WW2 when pushing against the Germans, they had tons of people with guns pointed to their heads.
