miled is the fucking best. when people call an AK a peasants gun, theyre thinking of a stamped receiver. pick up a milled ak and their mind changes instantly.
yeah its a little heavier, im willing to add a little extra weight for that quality feel

>>
I own 2 milled Ak's (c38v2 "yes I know" and sam7sf)
They were a waste of money.
Stamped is better imo. It's lighter, and weight means a whole fucking lot when it means 2 extra lbs on a semi auto carbine u may be carrying for miles. Yes recoil is more but that's just because the weight keeps it down. Any gun that weighs more will have same effect. The stamped ones are ridiculously durable and the trunions wear out at around 80/100k rounds (unless u have a peice of shit American made ak like ras47 or io) and when they do u can buy a new one a and weld a new one on In a couple seconds. The difference in accuracy is almost fucking non existent between my stamped Saiga and milled. Milled is a fucking overpriced meme I fell for. Even if u wanted to full auto them a stamped will last a couple hundred rounds..not as good as a Milled but unless u are endlessly dumping like a retard it's a non issue anyway. Piss on the damn thing and save 700 bucks.

1969 parts-matching Izzy AKM with correctly marked Childers Guns receiver and NOS Polish or Romanian barrel.

If I had $1,100 right now I'd be all over this.
>>
>>32082885
It looks like a step in the right direction but I will wait for the full 5000 round test. I noticed there was some peening on the bolt carrier and front trunion. Maybe someone here knows more than I do--are those parts even supposed to touch when the bolt's in battery? Would milling a little angled relief cut on each of the damaged surfaces cure the problem or just spread out the impact over a larger area? If I owned one I would be hoping it didn't crack. I have a WASR and while I don't have 1000 rounds through it yet, I notice that portion of the bolt carrier and that portion of the trunion don't even seem to come into contact. I can find no marks on them, at around 500 rounds.

Also, I note that Mr. Ski is unenthusiastic about single-function flash suppressors and prefers a muzzle brake, even at the cost of lots of concussion and muzzle flash. Me, I consider muzzle flash to be the main problem and favor compact birdcage type devices.

I wonder whether Strike Industries is going to make a version of their J-Comp in 14x1 LH with a 7.62mm hole through the center and a detent notch. I hear good things about it, at least in the 5.56mm world.

You should be able to slide the LHG forward along with the lower handguard retainer. Remove the cleaning rod if you haven't, it doesn't help. Try and get the whole damn thing to slide forward. Then just pull down on the LHG.

>>
>>32082690
No, I mean, what if someone MADE milled AK-74 receivers. With 7.62x39, at least it would go towards helping to absorb the recoil, and who knows, maybe even make the AK-47 flex a bit less than the AKM, but for the AK-74? It already seems to have such low recoil impulse, so the added weight would probably have NO benefits to outweigh its... well... weight. The AK-47 was discontinued in 1959 in favour for the stamped receiver AKM and the AK-74 started OUT stamped, so yeah, I'm fairly sure there's never BEEN a milled AK-74 (AK47-74, if you will), but I'm just derping out loud on the thought of if someone were to MAKE an 'AK47-74'... as it were.

Unlikely. 7n6 is still B& because ATF, not because of Obama. SGAmmo suddenly finding a "cache" is likely a case of them holding onto a couple of pallets to sell at a high markup during the expected Clinton administration.

Trump already backpedals on wall, muslim ban and Clinton investigation. Soon he'll start backpedaling on guns and making friends with Pootyn. So the answer is no.
And even if he won't backpedal he's still a protectionist. If it competes with US made stuff- it won't enter or will be taxed 200%.

Plano makes a decent Pelican knockoff if you can't afford the real deal. They come down to about $50 on a regular basis for the 36" version.

>>32083752
Out of all those things, the thing I see him as least likely to backpedal on is guns. The wall was an expensive public works project in an era where our infrastructure needs to take priority, the Muslim ban was likely to be ruled unconstitutional on its face, and someone probably convinced Trump that a Clinton investigation would probably do more harm than good to his administration at this point. Putin he may or may not get close with, but Don Jr. is gonna continue pushing him right on guns like he has over the last couple of decades since he wrote Art of the Deal. Honestly, I just want NFA laws relaxed at this point. The big prize was always a conservative SCOTUS pick, and now we'll get that regardless.

>>32083765
They didn't. The orange ones are bakelite, and the plum ones were colored that way because black plastic at the time was too brittle. What black there is on plum mags is just a variation in the material color. True blacks are just a modern black polymer.

It seems to me that I've heard of '74 type rifles being assembled onto milled receivers. What benefits this offers, I can't say, unless you just really like the milled receiver--and there's nothing wrong with that at all.

Just in the Equipment Exchange forum at ARFCOM in the past five years I've seen all manner of configurations that are not "correct," that were never manufactured for issue or even as prototypes behind the Iron Curtain to the best of my knowledge. Underfolders in 5.45mm. Krink type SBRs in 7.62x39. Triangle folders on fullsize 7.62x39mm rifles were never manufactured in the Warsaw Pact but they're so common there's a NAME for them now--"Khyber Pass" rifles.

If you can imagine it someone's probably at least tried to do one. Seriously.

I'm well aware of how cheap they used to be but complaining about how they're expensive just isn't true. $30-$35 isn't expensive. It's more than a steel 7.62x39 mag or a Glock mag or a STANAG mag (the three that everybody seems to judge all mag prices for every gun against when they complain that 5.45 mags are expensive), sure, but it isn't expensive

I'm going to leave one loaded in my armory at all times to see if the feed lips will break like they did with that one guy. The locking latches are NOT reinforced as far as I can tell, so I'll try to keep track of how many times I insert/remove one of them before the tab takes a shit.

He's got a neat collection that is more varied than my rather straight forward stash, and the worst thing I've ever said about it is "buy true blacks" and the worst he's ever said to me about mine is "buy bakelite and Tula plums", both of which are legitimate needs we both will eventually get around to buying.

>>32085365
I've got them all in a shelf in my closet, organized by the type of mag. The bottom six (Bulgarian scrubbed Russian mags, two of which I stripped the black paint off) are all loaded and kept in a separate pile away from the empty ones

RS Regulate. The early iterations of the lower mount part had trouble mounting on the SAM7SF due to the sling swivel clip getting in the way. When they upgraded from the AK301 to the AK301M model they fixed this issue. If you have a sam7sf just make sure you get the ak301m. You can go to their website to choose an upper mount that best fits your optic.

I like it a lot. I was considering switching over to a simple red dot, but I may leave this optic on this rifle and just put a red dot on my WASR. I'm so used to it now I don't think I'd want anything else on this rifle.

What's the deal with those recoil pads? Does the GP-25 really have that much more recoil?

ATF will never charge someone with 922(r) alone because they're afraid of a court finding it null and void. It relies on a section of code that is no longer part of law (the description of a semi-automatic "assault weapon" is from a section which has been gone since the AWB expired in 2004.).

In fact, the 922r law was directly tied to the AWB and is null and void now that the sunset has passed.

Found this on AKfiles thread
http://www.akfiles.com/forums/showthread.php?t=286811&page=16

Well, let me tell you about this one time at Rob camp. You see, I know an AK company that got 6 or 7 sample extractors in for testing built to the AK companies print. They decided not to use them because they broke during testing from what they determined the heat treat was to high, near 58RC. All of them broke in under 1K rounds. Now, there was a few of those extractors left in a small bag that was properly labeled with the date, vendor and a note not to use. They don't know the exact number, maybe two or three were left, but that was it. Now, fast forward to today, that little bag is now missing, but they do have a broken extractor that was sent from Rob camp that they measured at about 58 to 60RC. Now that CEO when he found out about that little bag with those few extractors missing got down right pissed. The rest of the story should not be told to sensitive ears.

Looks like someone at the DDI factory is getting fired, also I dont see how the CEO is a scumbag he actually talks to customers and gets on internet forums and deals with AK autists.

Okay. I'm not a metallurgist but I was given to understand that 58-60 RC was not excessive hardness for most types of steel--cutlery steel, for knives, is typically hardened to the mid-high 50s, and 60-62 is for files, high speed cutting tools, etc.

What is the proper hardness for an AK extractor? I know there must be a spec, somewhere, but it's probably written in Russian. Does anyone know?
