Look, it is THIS thread again.
It's almost like seatrials a meant to find shit like this.

>seatrials
>crossing panama canal
kek.
be butthurt some more.
>"a-at least it doesnt smoke! v-vatniks BTFO!"
>U.S. "Navy"
>Let's go containing China!
>Gotta cross the Panama Canal
>Breaks down
>Spend its time in repair
Only jews are happy.
>Piss old and undermaintained for literal decades Kuznetsov puts out some smoke, /k goes wild
>Brand new shiny dickwaving dreadnought-shaped Zumwalt breaks down and is about to lose its $800k per round ammunition, /k goes "lies!"
Fatniks never change.
>slow speed
>crossing a water as peaceful as a canal
>all crew on standby
>still break down
American Quality, everyone.

Please tell me it wasn't insufficient oil in the engines or bearings again. That's what's taken down half the San Antonios at one time or other, along with most of the LCSes (19 forced bearings!).

>three (3)! total ships
Like the Zumwalt was ever going to be a factor. I'm not sure why all of you poorfag navies even care other than dumbass Vatniks with their irrelevant "navy". Of course this meme ship is going to have problems. It's a glorified tech demo.
>>32081690
Excuses, excuses. You probably have some excuse for why you're overweight, right?

More truth than anything.
New class of ship has growing pains. News at 11.
>>32081652
This level of damage control, I figured it was why you made this thread.
>>32081518
Wow, it's like first in class ships break down all the fucking time or something.
>>32082127
Yeah, as a matter of fact I do:
I like cake, faggot. Deal with it.

retard here
can someone tell me the purpose of the zumwalt and why it was so special?
>>32084136
Its purpose is to assimilate finds, it is so special because it managed to assimilate a couple tens of billions before getting cancelled.
>>32084136
DoD budget sink
>>32084136
Le battlecruiser.
>>32084136
Zumwalt was supposed to be the next generation destroyer for the USN, but the numbers got cutback to 3 when they realized upgraded burkes could do the same job cheaper.
Now the Zumwalt is just a test bet for new technologies to be implemented later on a real class, like the Seawolf was to the Virginia.
This way we find problems like this on a small class of ships instead of on a big one.
>>32084136
It exists just to wave our oddly geometrical dick in China's face.
Guys, CNN has found a picture of the culprit
>>32081518
>hull plating is so thin that it buckles between the internal support beams
Jesus titty-fucking Christ.
Its hull looks like the fabric skin of a WWI biplane.
>>32085810
How do they keep getting away with it?
At least it is not like Chinese ship. They all look the same.
>>32085810
>yfw the russian ship that the US Navy fears the most is a tug
Makes sense that they always have one in their carrier battlegoup, as a main line of defence against US ships
>>32081652
>puts out some smoke
You mean has to get towed every other week because it can barely steam under its own power?
>>32081518
It's a testbed for technologies that will be fielded in our Navy for the next half century. Yeah, it's going to break down. That's the point.
>>32084136
>non meme answer
A stealthy guided missile destroyer with AESA radar, shore bombardment and room for future technologies.
Congress in its infinite wisdom does not comprehend economy of scale or R&D costs being divided by units procured, and didn't understand why Zumwalt's kept getting more expensive as they slashed the numbers to be bought.
Even in their gimped form they are king shit of the seas.

>le happy merchant marine
>>32084136
It's basically the USS Star Trek Fanfiction
>tons of computer power
>stealthy
>tons of electric power
>was supposed to be fitted out with railguns and laser weapons
>lead ship is commanded by Captain James Kirk
