Just get something in .223 or .308 if you want some kick. If you've never shot before I'd recommend a .22 to learn the disciplines of marksmanship, otherwise you'll be like me and shooting fliers because your pre-empting the recoil.

There's a pretty large chance you'd develop a flinch, the round is expensive and hard to find, and there's practically nothing that warrants a .375 to shoot unless you live in Alaska.

A 30-06 or literally even a 308 will do everything you could with that beast

I have the older model of the exact gun, before they made the muzzle brake. Ammo prices are bullshit. If you've got enough to load the thing, even with reloading equipment, you have enough to also buy a companion rifle in a smaller, cheaper caliber for training. Failing that, reduced loads.

Don't be a pussy and shoot with the brake, muzzle blast sucks. If you can't handle the recoil get a weaker gun. Other than that, more power to you and have fun sniping at elk. =P
