new AR fag here
spoon feed me some info

1. i was told to use heavier than 55hr .223 for my 1:8 twist barrel.(to avoid over spinning or some shit) Does that even matter for casual 200yr shooting?

2.Every round i see over 55gr is a green tip or has a steel penetrator (banned by my local range)
is there a pinking teir .223 round heavier than 55gr that's not green tip?

3. what ammo would you suggest for home defense?

4. if the 55gr is fine, any suggestions for plinking ammo?

I'm only skimming this and pretty drunk but to answer all your questions:

1. m193

2. m193

3. m193

4. m193

If that is your rifle good taste on the fixed carry handle.
>>
>16A2 clone
Where'd you get it? Been considering one.

To answer your question, just use 55 gr M193 for all of the above. 55gr .223 can fill in as a cheap substitute too. 1/8 will stabilize 55 gr and 62 gr just fine.

1:8 is supposed to handle 55gr just fine

55gr is literally the most common bullet weight for .223. You can find jacketed lead bullets anywhere.

Look up good defensive ammo online. Google it you fucking faggot.

Plinking ammo is steel cases Russian shit, since you probably don't reload.

>>32080037
Most people shoot 55gr out of 1:7 twist barrels every day. It is a non issue that people have been pushing for years.

Junk FN, AR15A4 master race.

1. 1:8 stabilizes everything pretty well. Don't worry about it. More important is to make sure your rifle is a .223/5.56 rifle. 5.56 is a higher pressure ammunition than .223.

2. There is. It's expensive. You can get heavier weight ball ammo online, but there isn't a lot of reason to unless you are competition shooting or something.

3. 55gr M193 ball. This ammunition has the least risk of overpenetration from common 5.56 loads and the AR-15 rifle was designed to shoot it. It wreaks havoc on soft tissue targets. There are more lethal rounds that are heavier grains. They are expensive.

4. Yes.

Thanks, I'm gonna get an original Colt 3x20 for it as well.

The upper was from ar15sport.com
Lower is a cheap Andersons
Mill spec trigger
A2 stock
Surplus a2 grip

>>32080066
Nothing in my build is FN
I wasn't even aware FN made an A2 clone
>>
>>32080085
How's Tula 75 gr hollow point ammo? It's only a bit more expensive than 55 gr ball ammo.
>>
>>32080152
Don't use steel ammo for self defense. Buy the most reasonably reliable (brass) ammo that you can for fighting and steel for the range if you want to save money.
>>
>>32080085
Does anyone even make .223 specific uppers anymore? And if so, fucking why?
>>
>>32080058
that's assuming his range even allows steel case bi-metal stuff, which prob not.

It's not like you're going to be plinking away boxes and boxes of your HD ammo.

>i was told to use heavier than 55hr .223 for my 1:8 twist barrel.(to avoid over spinning or some shit) Does that even matter for casual 200yr shooting?

1:8 is fine.

>Every round i see over 55gr is a green tip or has a steel penetrator (banned by my local range)
>is there a pinking teir .223 round heavier than 55gr that's not green tip?

short answer: no. everything over 55gr is either 62gr green tip clones, or its expensive match/hunting stuff, like 77gr smk otm.

>what ammo would you suggest for home defense?

depends on the home setup. 55gr should be adequate, and really -- a handgun should be adequate at HD distances.

>if the 55gr is fine, any suggestions for plinking ammo?

the cheapest you can find that isn't weird russian shit.
