Just finished up a AK-74 build and now I'm jonesin' to get a CZ 24 kit... Not to mention the M70, 1903a3, and 10/22 flat I have in progress.
Anyways, let's see what you're up to!
>>
>>32077851
planning on doing an uzi build sometime soon.
I'm getting money saved up for some parts
>>
>>32077999
uzis are very easy and can be built like an ar if you sont want to machine anything yourself. i atill need to get my receiver parked/coated.

what MG's should i invwst in now? thinking wither a dp-28 or m53
>>
>>32077851
paging Zasta

>>32078037
I'd love a semi DPM but I don't have a way to build the kit. IIRC SMG Guns used to assemble DP-28/DPM kits for you, I don't think they do that anymore though.
>>
>>32078037
M53's are baller af.
If I wasn't in Kommiefornia I'd build an MG. A friend of mine owns a gun store and bought a MG34 kit for next to nothing recently and I'd probably be able to get a decent deal on it.
>>
>>32078070
>>32078069
well im asking since theyre only like $300 for either of those kits. figured I should get one while i can and theyre cheap. same goes for those polish ppsh-41 kits that occasionally pop up.

now if only i could find an east german ak kit, and figure out if the whatacountry FAL kits have torch cut barrels.
>>
>>32077851
Elaborate on the 1903A3 project pls
>>
>>32078518
Not him but probs a Sarco kit. They also have complete 1903s for like $595
>>
>>32078518
Not strictly a parts kit. I got a Remington 1903a3 action for $215 and I'm piecing together the rest of the period-correct parts, one by one.
I actually managed to find the exactly correct trigger guard while on vacation out of state. Old antiques shop had a pile of gun parts and it was buried in it. $13 versus $40+ online. The receiver, bolt, and trigger guard are all I have atm
>>32078651
I almost bought a Sarco kit, but rumor has it most of the parts are shitty India and Chinese made repros. I'm sticking with original USGI parts.
>>
>>32077851
>10/22 flat
thats a thing? kinda interested

Yeah they were a one time group buy on weaponsguild. I got one with the trunnion after the fact for like $50

I hate myself for not knowing how to build a gun from parts.
>>
>>32079175
Then stop hating yourself and learn. There are forums everywhere, and youtube is a huge resource of information.
>>
>>32078987
is there a separate trunion for the barrel and rear?

>>32079274
Yeah. The rear is just a block, but the front is the same as the front of a normal 10/22. I just have to figure out how to attach it to the receiver. Probably just gonna plug weld it.
>>
>>32078037
Just wondering, what Uzi parts are excluded from the Apex kits?

It says something like a "cocking block" or something, but I can't even find a parts diagram that shows it.

I realize it's a select-fire only part, but I'm still curious.
>>
>>32079175
bfgmovies has a crash course on building an AK for idiots, watch it on youtube he's from /k/
>>

^this. It was a big part in building my 74

Not him but I can't weld nor do I have the equipment to do so. I'm also poor.
>>
>>32079473
an AK requires a spot welder, which is mostly retard proof if you leave the tongs together long enough so the weld cools down.

the hard part is riveting expertly.
>>
>>32079409
I dont know, I ordered from whatacountry. apex is usually not the cheapest place to get parts. i think youre talking about the buffer block, which is a plastic/rubber block used to house the new firing pin, since the uzi is an open bolt design and the atf decided it didnt like those.

i ordered my bolt pre-modified from mckay enterprises, same with my receiver.
for extra parts and accessories i used usbarrelshrouds. theyve got some pretty cool accessories for sale there. I also got my barrel from there since everyone else was sold out at the time. mckay has (had?) better barrel prices if theyve come back in stock.

if you decide to build an uzi and cant machine your own semi-only bolt, then make sure you buy one asap. i didnt and had to wait almost 6 months to get one.
>>
>>32078037
My buddy is doing a DPM build right now. He had a bit of a hard time welding due to how thick the receiver chunks are; hardest time he had was drilling the bolt for the SA conversion
>>
My press comes in on Friday and I have two ak kits.
Probably going to pick up a DP-28 and a MG53 Kit soon too honestly.
Anyone bend a G3 flat?
>>
>>32079566
My advice would be to have it heat treated properly afterward.

seriously, just don't use soft sheet metal receivers or you're gonna have a bad time.
>>
>>32079473
then do an AR-15 80%
you don't need a ton of special tools to build an AR from a bare receiver and you only need a drill press and jog to finish an 80%
get a used drill press from an estate sale for a song
>>
got a m14 parts kit from the cmp awhile back, just waiting on JRA to get their barreled receivers back in stock.
>>
Can you guys actually shoot these things or are they for show?

Pretend I'm retarded, what's a step by step? I've always wanted a sten.

I get a real reciever/blank? Get parts kit? Build? Seems almost too easy
>>
Anyone know anything about the FBP? Most of the internals were directly copied from the mp40. There's parts kits and receiver blanks available. Looks interesting, but there's almost no information about building them.
>>
>>32080520
You can either make them for show with dummy receivers or make them into functioning guns. Most people are making functional guns. Building demilled guns can be much harder than just assembling an AR. Almost always you'll need to modify them to be semi auto to comply with the ATF. This can be as easy as removing a few parts or it could require drilling through the bolt to install a during pin and installing a hammer and disconnector. You will also need to modify the receiver so the full auto parts cannot be dropped in. This usually requires either a blocking bar or welding up pin holes or something like that.
If you're rewelding the old receiver, prepare for a huge pain in the ass. You will have to make some sort of jig to hold the 3 (usually) pieces together and then weld them. This is worse when there are large gaps between the pieces or when the heat from welding warps the pieces.
>>
>>32080520
Sadly a sten will end up costing something like $6-700 depending what type of sten exactly you want. The parts kit will cost atleast $100 for a mkiii kit which is the cheapest. The barrel will cost about $160 for a rifle length one, most annoying is the $300 semi auto bolt. You also need a reciever tube. If the relatively high cost for a pipe gun doesn't bother you and you have some machining and welding skills you can build a semi auto sten just fine as long as you abide by state and nfa laws.
>>
anyone know where to get Galil receiver blueprints? All of the images I've found online were very blurry.
>>
>>32078856
>Old antiques shop had a pile of gun parts
those are the best deals, you just have to know exactly what everything is by looking at it.
>>
>>32077851
Rebuilt a STEN a while back
>>
>>32080520
I'm thinking of building one I'm gonna buy the receiver tube and parts from Indianapolis ordinance.con it's a little pricey but it's worth it for the sten
>>
>>32083736
How did it go? Do you still have it and where did you buy the parts

Pic related - my semi-auto Sten MkII I built.

Pick up a parts kit, then cut it up to salvage what you legally can.

Pick up a new semi-auto receiver tube, barrel, and semi-auto conversion kit (got mine from Indianapolis Ordnance).

Cut the template with a dremel, clean it up with files/etc, weld it up, then finish as desired.
>>
>>32079409

You have to replace the sear with a US semi-auto one (has a slightly different profile to fit a semi-auto receiver like Mckay's, also 922r)

You also have to remove the ratchet tooth from the full auto Uzi top cover. After that, you have to weld a blocking bar in the trigger housing to prevent the safety from moving to the full giggle position.

Other than that, Uzi carbine builds are pretty simple.
>>
>>32083808
That's a cool mag carrier. What is it? Will glock mags fit?
>>
>>32083948

It's a reproduction bandoleer from IMA.

>Glock mags

...

No. I have had some harebrained ideas of cutting up an 80% frame and JB welding it up, but that's still a fantasy at this point.
>>
>>32083948

>>32083991

Post work-retarded. If you mean fit the bandoleer, then probably, yeah. Haven't tested that though.

Got the 10/22 flat bent. Now to weld in the trunnions
>>
Looking at picking up a CZ 26 Parts kit soon. How expensive would it be to go about building one? anyone here have any experience?
>>
>>32084922

I have one in process now. On the order of about $800 in old/new parts, magazines, and paying to have the bolt converted to semi-auto - assuming you don't have a full machine shop.

Check out re-mil.com for the conversion parts and service.
>>
>>32083881
what about an Uzi flat?
>>
I bought a Suomi M-31 kit for a hundred bucks. Thought it was a deal, but apparently nobody makes conversion kits anymore...
>>
>>32085137

Building an Uzi from a flat is a bit more involved, and requires additional tooling (jigs, a press, and a welder namely).

This dude on YT https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j1DIa2C0DQs has a series detailing his build from a flat.
>>
Bumping for akm kit recommendations.
>>
Figured this would be the best place to ask, how would you guys feel about me documenting my obrez build? It would be me taking a Type 53 and as well as a stripped receiver and cutting them up to weld together to create a pistol receiver.
>>
>>32087693
Be careful with that, I remember reading that demilling a receiver with the intent to reweld it is somehow illegal.
I'd love to see it, though.
>>
>>32079566
Where are you gonna get a barrel for the DP and a receiver for the M53?
>>
>>32087693
Why not just say you bought a stripped receiver from a private sale?
