Will we never again see cheap, beautiful Karabiner 98ks? I have a new found love of the 98k but I don't want to spend $1500+ on one in great condition and there doesn't seem to be much in the way of stocks to replace the lesser quality ones, is restoration a lengthy and expensive process for the 98k?
>>32077833
Cheap milsurp in general will soon be gone.
>>32077850
The worst thing for me is seeing stupid fucking fudds sporterizing 98ks and rechambering them in durr huntin cartridges as if 8mm Mauser wouldn't do the job already.
>>32077833
>*laughs in Australian*
>>32077987
There are plenty of Karabiner 98ks that look like that on the market, not a whole lot of pristine cheap rifles anymore
>>32078042
>>32077987
not just that, but it clearly says those are all RCs.
RC mausers have been rising in price, but theyre still cheaper than that here in the US. id say around $600+ currently
I got a Russian Capture K 89k made by BNZ in 42, for $300. Looks like it was just refinished by Ivan and Vasili. Should have been $500, but the gun store thought it was a Yugo.
why want one instead of say a K31?
>>32078093
Instead? Don't you mean in addition?
>>32078093
Those are around $650 now, and climbing. Will be $1000+ by 2020.
Got my 1942 Nazi Mauser for $450 a few months ago. Its in really good shape.
>>32078093
The wehraboo down inside of me requires a Mauser, but a K31 would be cool too
>>32078263
If you want a Mauser, go get a Yugo. Both the M24/47 and M48 are something like $300 USD for one in good condition.
I got my moist nugget, my short nugget, and a Mak and that's all I ever really plan on buying milsurp wise unless some fantastical deal shows up. It's all too expensive now.
>>32078298
I was thinking about it, but the German stock, and the waffenamts make the 98k truly beautiful. The M48 is nice but it's not the same.
>>32078353
I fully agree. Although, I personally own a M24/47 and it's a fantastic shooter for the price (especially since I got 1050 rounds at 25 cents a round with it). I prefer the butt and straight bolt over the M48's design, but it's really down to preference since they're basically identical anyway.

>>32077833
K98's, Springfields, M1 carbines, STG44, Mp40, FG42, Mg42
and sometimes the K43. Public interest in these guns never wane.
I don't see why they aren't in reproduction by now.
Do you think anyone will start to make K98's? Is that possible, legally?
>>32079780
Anon, Mauser still exists and makes a really expensive M98 hunting rifle.

How much should I expect to pay for a RC K98k? What about a non-RC? And yes, I do want to shoot these rifles.
I need to buy all the rifles of WW2 before they're ridiculously expensive. A nugget is easy to get, so is a Lee-Enfield. Garands are still out there as well.
>>32078452
>Star of David on it
>Czech Mauser
What you got there is a veteran of the 1948 Arab-Israeli War, don't trade it
>>32079841
No, fuck you, ARs are boring as shit and even more boring as straight pulls
>>32079841
I did. I built an A4gery my senior year of high school. Now I want a Mauser.
*Amüsiert sich in deutscher Sprache*
>>32078298
Muh 24/47 I got for 180 cash
>>32078452
You actually have a piece of gold. That rifle will only appreciate in value as long as it isn't beaten to shit and maintained.
Commercial Mausers are still an option. Kimber, Winchester, Ruger, Cz, and Zastava make them in modern calibers for between $500 and $1500 give or take.
Shitty thing is no iron sights on most of them, but you can find a gunsmith if you want them that bad.
>>32082443
CZ 550FS (or 455FS for the .22 baby Mauser) has irons and a full stock.
>>32081287
Fuck you Steven
>>32077833
Pic related is a numbers matching (even the stock, but not the cleaning rod) good condition S/42 from 1937 with all stamps intact that shoots good as well.
I bought it for 221€.
>>32077833
You can still get 98ks for less than $1k, just have to look around or settle for a Russian Capture.
My wife got me an all matching K98k for $400 in the Democratic Peoples Republic of Commiefornia in 2012. I've also seen RCs go for $450-550 locally. Just have to keep an eye out for that shit.
NEVER GIVE UP OP!!!!! just keep cash on hand in case a deal lands in your lap.
>>32082750

its fucking deactivated, isnt it?
>>32077833
Import bans don't help, but most of the cheap, good conditions Mausers have been gone for 30 years. I'm sure if we threw out the import bans they'd be a little bit more common but not much to make a difference in price.
>>32082916
Europoors can buy bolt guns fairly easily anon.
>>32079780
Mitchell's Mausers makes well, Mausers.
>>32082916
Nope.
The company I work for bought it and immediately sold it to me with my staff discount.
>>32077850
In a way I'm releived cheaper to tear apart a modern gun so the remaining ones are relatively safe now

>>32082591
Mike or Zach?
>>32083550
Neither
I just got my K98a for $350 in september, you can still find plenty of mausers for well under $1000. That said, the days of paying less than $150 for a good milsurp are pretty much over and prices will just get higher.
>>32083563
Who the fuck is this
>>32080290
This. I bought one in 04 for 100 bucks because the dipshits at the pawn shop have no idea what they had. I sold it to a friend due to him giving me a shitload of AK food. He then sold it to as gun shop instead of selling it back to me....
>>32081226
Is that because the early Bundeswehr had a lot of stockpiles it inherited from the Wehrmacht? If so it would make sense that they sell them as surplus.
>>32083582
I was with you when you bought the damn rifle
>>32083656
Matt
It was so long ago I didn't think you'd remember.
>>32083687
I'm in Pharmacy school, I need a good memory
>>32083652
It's a Spanish one in the screenshot, I doubt the bundeswehr stockpiled those. German ones tend to be around 500€ online, but can be had cheaper where I live. Everyone's a fudd here anyways, old surplus is useless,Assault rifle pattern weapons shouldn't be owned since you can't hunt with them, and hitting a heart shot is impossible beyond 200 meters if you don't have a 1000€+ hunting rifle.
