The M60, all things considered. By that point everyone involved should have known a lot better. It wasn't as if a man portable, belt fed automatic weapon was a new concept.

There really is no excuse for how bad it was. The M60 wasn't anywhere close to any other MG in service anywhere in the world.

Chauchat was perfectly functional.

early models were poor quality and early magazines were shit but the reputation of "It doesn't shoot it blows up" comes from test models given to Americans re-chambered to 30-06. They changed the magazine as well.

However they didn't take in account the facts that unlike 8mm Lebel, 30-06:
>was rimless cartridge(different extraction mechanism needed)
>was relatively hotter

And guess what. Two issues Americans had with it were related to exactly these problems. It jammed whole the time because it failed to eject almost every time(I believe that it didn't eject at all but I'm open for somebody proving me wrong) and the parts were quickly broken because they weren't built to survive 30-06.

In 8mm Lebel though it was perfectly functional LMG.

What makes the SAM7SF a joke is the marketing that made it out to be a total game changer. What we got was a rifle that had actually been offered by Arsenal years prior with a mediocre side-folding stock. Arsenal Bulgaria makes great quality AKs, but they're honestly a bunch of hacks.
