In a home defense situation you're not plinking the gong at 70m. The only disadvantage to a birdshead for home defense is if you have little girl wrists. Personally prefer birdshead over pistol grip on my 12 gauge

They animated the first shell being put in the barrel, and then it's hard to tell if the rest are put lower, but this is correct. The only way to fit 7 rounds in an 1887 is to put one in the chamber, one in the action, and five in the magazine. It looks to me like they just didn't want to animate the whole step of putting 5 rounds a little lower than the first, or maybe they did and it's due to the perspective.

I can't say anything about an actual 1887 but I did have the Norinco copy. Put a box of shells through it and sold it for those exact reasons. Definitely NOT a gun I'd trust to defend my life with.
