What are your recommendations? Needs to be stainless steel, about 3-4'' blade. High quality. Cheaper the better. But interested in all recommendations.

I'm a fan of CRKT knives. I have an older model of this:

https://www.crkt.com/m16-01kz-spear-point-black.html

You can get them on amazon for cheaper and I like the assist.

>>32055304
Nice looking knife. Which skyline model is that? Is it safe against rust/rain?

Get yourself a melon tester.

I've had one for years, actually bought a second while Kershaw is rebuilding the first after the assisted opener spring wore out after 7 years.

same. its good and ive had it for years. it has seen hell. not the hardest steel but its easy to sharpen. pretty good corrosion resistance

As far as I know Kershaw doesn't offer a non-stainless knife.
>>
>>32055234
>high quality
For an EDC knife? I'd recommend either a Kershaw Leek or Spyderco PM2.
>the cheaper the better
You need to be looking at Ganzo and Sanrenmu knockoffs of American designs.
This'll get you high-end steel, decent-but-not-great build quality, and questionable tempers and edge grinds. For $20 or less with a 2-month shipping time.

What is the best self defense edc knife? I'm leaning towards leek is that sufficient?
>>
>>32057621
I love mine, it's my 6th or so. Keep giving them away when i find someone doesn't carry a knife. Nice for more formal occasions, but i almost never carry it by itself in a normal day to day. A little too specialized in application. I like to bank it up with a spyderco byrd.

As to OP, spyderco byrds are great, as is the tenacious. Got an Ontario folder that takes a hell of a beating, have carried buck's and crkt's as well. Kershaw's seem to just keep getting shittier all the time. If you can find a junkyard dog, however, that was my favorite edc to date. Some fucker stole it though.

Opinels are fine, but not heavy duty either. Great for food prep and consumption, not sure about a workhorse EDC, but if you aren't doing anything terribly demanding than it will be more than perfect as an EDC.

>>32058258
Not up to date with Kershaws, but didn't have bad experiences years ago. Tell me more about this supposed decline in quality.

Furthermore, I'm curious about your CRKT experience. CRKT button locks are pretty shitty in my opinion, if not just because of the quality of the lock itself. I have consistent experience with button locks on CRKT models breaking/ springing out of place, requiring me to search for the button and spring and take the entire knife apart to put it back together with all the pieces again.

What knife is that?

Kershaws, other than their flagship onion pieces have just not held up, at least the last two I've seen people buy. The people in question were not hardcore knife enthusiasts, but also not overly abusive to them. Steel treatment seems to be approaching Gerber grade, which is not flattery. (I'm getting about one good blade in 5 Right now)
I'm not sure what you're referring to by button, but i have seen m-16 and directive patterns come apart on people. I personally hate extra springs, assisted openings and automatics. Too many small parts to break or get lost. The exception is the My Tighe (i think that's the model name) where the spring id's just a heat treated spring wire in the back. That is a beautiful knife, i don't like to carry it at work for fear of Fucking it up. Their fossil line and anything with their new bearing system has been great, I've seen those hold up to some real torture testing at my job. (Outdoor, all weather, harsh chemicals, lots of prying/banging/abuse/using-a-knife-because-it's-the-closest-tool) Steel has been really nice too.

Or, you know, not blowing a ton of money because some one image memeing autist's masturbatory aid because fuck that guy. You know, I actually admired Chris Reeve's work and was debating buying one, because i could justify spending$500+ on a knife before seeing your dumb shit.

I'm not trying to feed the troll I just seriously want to know why crk knifes cost so much money its just a basic folder no bearings just standard washers I mean I guess they use a higher quality steel like most companies but does it really make the price go from 25 dollars for a 440c knife to 350 to 400+ for their knifes ? I mean is it honestly worth it ?
>>
>>32065966
Where are you shopping for $350 dollar crkt's? Yes, exotics in steel cost bank, but seem to be worth it if you know what you're doing with a knife. I'd personally go crkt over pretty much any comparably priced Kershaw right now, their low end shit has been so unreliable lately. On the other hand, crkt's m-16 line has seemed to completely shat the bed of late, so it's a bit of a toss up. I look for simple liner or lock backs, no assisted openers, no secondary or tertiary locks, and easy to clean/maintain styles. It's worked out pretty well, with an occasional dud.
