Don't carry cool, expensive or sentimental firearms for defense. If you ever have to use it the chance of getting it back anytime soon is slim. It will likely sit in an evidence locker for years, get "lost" or destroyed.

I disagree with single stack ccw's. Most people hit 30% or less when in a self defense situation. An 8 round mag +1 in the chamber means that you get 3 hits on a good day. Get in a mixup with a couple attackers and that starts to really drop your survival rate. Double stack 9mm, no thumb safety and fits your hand like any other gun you own and is stupid reliable.
