Hey /k/,
I want to buy new watches for going inawoods.
The design I'm looking for in pic related, but I want just basic watches, no GPS. Any recommendations?

G Shocks are always a solid option.

Agree, they are no.2 on my list

>>32049306
Just get a terrorist watch, literally best basic watch there is.
>>
>>32049306
Grunt here (former). I did 4 years with a cheap $15 cassio with a back light.

I'm assuming you want to be a mall ninja tho, so I'll leave it at that.

Seconding g shock. I've had mine for two years; worn it hiking, in the snow, showered daily with it, swimming in lakes rivers pools and hot tubs. Motorcycling, doing concrete work, etc. rarely ever take it off. Solid fucking watch, plus you can get them on sale
Sometimes for like $35-40
>>
>>32049656

An altimeter in conjunction with topological maps is useful as fuck. Altitude can be used as a landmark.

Do you even boy scouts?
>>
>>32049721
>Do you even boy scouts?
Eagle scout, and you can read topo maps by not being a fucking retard.

I mean honestly, you only need a watch if you're doing group coordination without communication, which I don't do. So, I don't where a watch. What the fuck does it matter what time it is? It doesn't.

>>32049814
If it's flat just fucking orient yourself, if it's hilly figure out a plan via map and compass, then execute. I have never used anything other than topo maps and a compass and haven't gotten lost.

Get the cheapest Casio with backlight and alarm. It tells time and date and wakes you up. It doesn't break, doesn't need the battery replaced in several years. The backlight is only on as long as you press the button, no permanent glow as in luminous hands or press-once-for-15s-lights common to more expensive models.

So it's basically jewelry.
Oh wait, after some simple googling, it would seem that another watch, the Bulova 96B251, was also used on the moon after a speedmaster broke.
So you can a have a moon watch for $3,000, or a moon watch and a scar for $550.

>It's just a marketing gimic dude, it's like when toothpaste say dentists recommend it. It's not like you're actually going to the fucking moon anytime soon.

The watch pictured in this thread is the Speedmaster Professional. It's a near exact replica of the version that was used in space

Never said it didn't faggot. I said that the fact it did is just something they use to sell it to people who will never ever use that capability.

The only reason your so insistent on "it works in space" is because you only brought the watch to give yourself an image and now that the image has been changed from "cool durable moonman watch" to "retard who fell for the jew" you're having buyers remorse and trying to justify your mistake to us.
>>

>Oh wait, after some simple googling, it would seem that another watch, the Bulova 96B251, was also used on the moon after a speedmaster broke.

I'm a watch whore. And I adore Omegas. And given more disposable, a lot of it would go on watches. I like them. I like having a small machine that can tell time and moon phases and whatnot by virtue of the finely tuned movement of cogs, springs and weights.

But the ONLY reason that the moon watch wasn't a G-Shock or something like it is because they weren't around back then. End of.

Why that should diminish your appreciation of either mechanical or digital watches, I just don't get. Both are minor fucking miracles of engineering.

Get an analog watch, seriously can't get better. Go for better buck for at least 10ATM waterproof and features you want, as well as automechanical winding.

Other than that, any watch will do. I bought a 250$ Wenger just because I wanted something to dive with as well as go to meetings.
