I'm in the market for a first hunting rifle for south Texas. Mainly aiming to kill hogs and durr. I'd prefer .308, but any hunting caliber such as .22-250, .243, and even .223 may work.

I've been debating between

>Savage 11 Scout
>CZ 527 or 550
>Ruger American
>Weatherby Vanguard/Howa 1500
>Tikka T3
>Browning X-Bolt

While I'd prefer to keep the price low, around or under $600. I also would like it to have irons as well, but it's not a deal breaker.

Tikka is an excellent rifle for the price.
How's or Savage are close second, and my first hunting rifle was a Savage Axis II in .308

I like the Tikka, but I preferred the Browning X-Bolt's feel. That said, the wood stock on the Tikka felt much better.

I'm a little picky, I don't exactly like my bolts feeling sticky or odd like on the Ruger American. Something about the bolt just felt off... but it's not a dealbreaker, especially at the price.

If you don't mind used you can find a savage 10 at a pawn shop for cheap, they usually have a cheap scope on them but you could upgrade that. Plus I know some of them have iron sights.
That's how I got my savage 110 for $275

I don't mind used, but I'd prefer to keep it new. I'm a bit of a snob, and I like developing memories with my own guns if that makes any sense. I buy my guns for life, I haven't sold a single gun thus far and don't plan on doing so.

If you're considering .308 or the other calibers you listed and not the 7mm-08 or 7mm Mag you're making a mistake.
>>
>>32048930
theyre all fine. pick the features/price you like the most and buy it.

>Not getting a semi auto for maximum hog genocide

Calm down, I'm including 7mm, .30-06, etc.

I have an AR-15 but I need a bolt action/manual action centerfire rifle.

For what I'm doing, would 7.62x39 work? I have a CZ 455 combo and I adore the rifle, and I'm looking at the 527 in x39 as well.
>>
>>32048930
Any of the cheap rifles will do, a used one would be better.

Do those deresonators actually work? I know that physics are with them, but do they work?
