First hunting rifle

Tikka is an excellent rifle for the price.
How's or Savage are close second, and my first hunting rifle was a Savage Axis II in .308

I like the Tikka, but I preferred the Browning X-Bolt's feel. That said, the wood stock on the Tikka felt much better.

I'm a little picky, I don't exactly like my bolts feeling sticky or odd like on the Ruger American. Something about the bolt just felt off... but it's not a dealbreaker, especially at the price.

If you don't mind used you can find a savage 10 at a pawn shop for cheap, they usually have a cheap scope on them but you could upgrade that. Plus I know some of them have iron sights.
That's how I got my savage 110 for $275

I don't mind used, but I'd prefer to keep it new. I'm a bit of a snob, and I like developing memories with my own guns if that makes any sense. I buy my guns for life, I haven't sold a single gun thus far and don't plan on doing so.

For what I'm doing, would 7.62x39 work? I have a CZ 455 combo and I adore the rifle, and I'm looking at the 527 in x39 as well.
