It's normal but correctible. There are two methods. You can file a little bit very carefully off the back side of the brake, so that you can hand tighten it down one more turn to lock into place, OR you can put a spacer washer behind it, and file down the washer instead.

This is kinda unrelated but,

I've had this NodakSpud AK74 receiver for ages, and I know every step to build an AK.

I finally got the money and all the Bulgarian AK74 kits on AK-builder are gone. Anyone have any idea when they'll be back, or where else can I find a bulgarian 74 kit with barrel installed for sale?

You'll have to find an upper handguard, but this is only $30.

http://www.clearviewinvest.com/ak47akmromanianwoodstockset-1.aspx
>Alternatively you could get a cheese grater upper from Kyber Customs.

You'll also probably have to refinish it.
You're unlikely to find a refinished set or something with a great finish for cheap.

You could also lurk the AKFiles marketplace, there's sets for sale all the time.

You'll want to. The 2 stage arsenal is probably the worst trigger I've ever used, and I've shot a Thompson with a 12+ pound trigger pull. Luckily the trigger isn't hard to replace, may want to have him install a retaining plate rather than the shephard's hook though

Has anyone bought an Atlantic Manufacturing kit gun yet? I am about to pull a trigger on their Bakelite Polish ak, but I was wondering how they as a manufacturer do.

>>
>>32035278
I sent him a Krebs Custom retaining plate with my parts kit. Trust me, I've had plenty of time to think about this.

If I replace just the trigger itself and leave the Arsenal disconnector/hammer, would that fuck anything up? Would I be better swapping those for a Tapco or ALG set and using the Izzy trigger?
>>
>>32035401
I'd just swap out the entire pack. Takes an extra 5 seconds really, only hard part is twisting the hammer spring around the hammer to keep it together

I've heard the Tapco G2 hammer can cause your bolt carrier to deform. If I were to get one of those, would it be feasible to use the trigger with the hammer already in the gun?

If I were to install a Bulgarian trigger How do they compare to the Arsenal?
>>
>>32035426
I don't use American parts in my AK, and never plan to so idk

More than likely, I would just replace everything with the same pack though just because I'm like that

Unironically my favorite trigger I have ever used. Very clean single stage with a short reset and a moderate initial walk. But it's surplus so I can't tell you if yours would be as great as mind
>>
>>32035426
Well thanks for freaking me out then. Dropped a modded taco g2 in my 308 vepr
>>
>>32035421
Well, the reason I ask is because I want to either use the Arsenal trigger or the Izzy trigger to maintain historical accuracy, so one of those two parts has to stay, but the disconnector and hammer can get swapped out. I'm just trying to figure out if mixing and matching would cause any serious issues.

At the moment though, I do plan to just run it with the Arsenal single-stage for a while and see how it plays out. I've got a Geissele SSA in my AR, so I'm already a bit spoiled, and I'd rather the gun look "correct" than chase the dragon in an attempt to get an AK with a similar trigger feel.
>>
I want to buy a Bakelite grip for my M92 PAP. Unfortunately, some do not fit due to the grip screw being at a different angle that the standard AKM fit. (Pic related).

>>
>>32035469
The Arsenal trigger is a new manufacture so there's really nothing historical about it. I'd argue the Bulgarian surplus packs are closer to accurate cause muh Ruski tools, but if you want it to be accurate then just use the Izzy. If it's not perfect you can always polish it up the way you like, much easier than cycling through a bunch of cheap surplus parts to find a nice fit. And yea, unless I'm mistaken you can mixmatch any of them that you want. I'm just personally autistic in that I don't like mixing parts

The stocks are known to break. They're all plastic so they have a massive failure point where they connect to the gun. What?
Kentucky Gun Co had them in stock not 2 weeks ago for $499. (OOS currently)
Atlantic has them for $539, but they're one of the last places to drop their prices and the first to raise them.

I certainly hope so. I'm just anxious to get my hands on it already. Currently lead time I was told by my builder was 10-12 weeks back in early October, so I'm hoping to have it by the end of the year. It'll make a fine Christmas gift for myself, considering the whole project (research, parts buying, receiver waiting, etc.) will be 3 years old in May.

>>32037620
>folding charging handle
Unlikely, since the charging handle on the AK is reciprocating and part of the bolt carrier group. I'd assume the folding mechanism would become prone to unintentional opening and would generally be more trouble than it's worth.
>>
>>32037657
You are right, it would need to be a pretty stiff spring to keep it closed and be of limited use. Suppose I like fiddly things too much.

Are there any specific loads for pistols? I know they are tuned for full power surplus but I'm planning on using it as a potential in the car gun and the massive blast is something I'm trying to avoid.

Yep, I've asked him to preserve any and all of the original finish. I'll know for certain if he doesn't, because Ivan was a bit sloppy to start with.

He does also offer a "battlefield pickup" finish that artificially wears any painted parts to match the wear on the kit, but my kit was in good enough condition that I don't really think it'd make any difference. Still, the fact that he offers it at all makes me think he doesn't paint over the original finish unless asked.

am i'm the only one who thinks that the alg triggers are too light and tend to double if not triple?

Or am i just a co-driver?
>>
>>32038417
Mine double taps easily
>>
>>32037996
The trigger creep and reset are about half of the regular ALG, but pull weight is the same. What little creep there is, is also MUCH smoother - absolutely no grit at all. Basically, it makes the regular ALG feel like a G2
>>
>>32038446
I can't imagine the trigger having any less travel or reset than it has now. So if my ALG accidentally double taps now, the ALG-E would not be good. Or very good...
>>
>>32037466

Just bought mine for $550, LGS.

Hod on famalam.
>>
>>32038458
I've never had any double tap problems with any of mine, nor has anyone else that has shot my AKs. But if you're having double taps with the regular ALG I would pass on the ALG -E since the trigger travel is pretty much the only difference you'll notice anyway
>>
Is there any good way to add a light to an AK without adding weight to the already front-heavy gun?

>>
>>32040089
>it lasted 5000 rounds.

And at the end of those 5000 rounds it was not safe to shoot due to headspace being out of spec. Headspace didn't open up from him beating the shit out of it. It was simply from being fired.
I wouldn't own a RAS47 when a WASR is similarly priced and so much more dependable.

The gas tube gets much hotter than the barrel
The gas tube has a star shaped cross section and wouldn't work well

>>32042740
Just so you know, you're probably not going to be able to get a folder on that unless someone makes an adapter for the AMD-65 rear trunnion. The standard Izzy/Tula/Bulgy triangle stocks fold to the left, not the right. Additionally, the AMD-65 lacks the front "hook" cutout on the front trunnion that gets used to lock the stock into place on the left side, so even if there is an adapter, the stock won't stay folded.

The slow-mo is neat but the sound effects are retarded. It'd be nice to just have deed high frame footage of different guns and their guts. The sound effects are completely over done.
>but so many rapid jump cuts everywhere takes away from it.
Yeah

Probably because they're both autistic gun loving millennials that have a bloated sense of self importance (I'm just mad that I don't get to have access to most of the things they get to shoot)

They did import some Cugir rifles back around 2004-05 with gas block front sights and a copy of an old East German polymer straight-line stock. Those weren't shit--but the Century Rule goes for IO also.

Century import? mite B good

short version: your rifle's disconnector is not properly fitted. due to dimensional variation AK disconnectors are not always a drop-in fit. do you own a file?

What happen to that guy with the Zenit covered AK? He get got on 922r?
>>
>>32044949
Most of the people here try to stay true to what their AKs were built for, and when. Hence the "riffle is fine" meme. And part of that is being able to lock on a bayo and cleaning rod.

For the record, if you ever go camping with your gun and shoot it, it's great to have the cleaning rod, and cleaning kit in the buttstock.

But if you mostly use a gun in your backyard, or at the nearest range, it doesn't matter much to you, unless you want to have a historically accurate piece.

That gun misses two of the major categories of people on here. But if you just want to have a good, solid gun, and you'll always have a cleaning kit handy, go for it. It'll probably be great for you.

... There has been one comment I've seen which says the finish is poor, but I wouldn't say that's enough to discourage you from owning one.

It's spring loaded on a very light spring so you don't even notice it when you shoulder it. It's the latch release button that releases the stock from the folded position.

Retard who drilled into his barrel here.

Finally got around to removing the gas block without any additional damage.

But now I was thinking of drilling another hole all the way through on the opposite side to even out the gas loss and then running the rifle with a gas booster muzzle device. Should I go for it?
