In states that don't require it, you should record your transfer anyway. At least get a drivers license number or if the person refuses just sell to those with a chl. Assuming the gun was in your name originally. In states that do ask for it, you don't need these guys. An ffl will give you a receipt and it's up to you to keep track of your own guns. I make a habbit to photograph all my guns and their s/n's on my phone. No one needs these guys. It's just one more business who's asking for your privacy. Fuck em. Horrible business idea.

I bought a stolen gun once and traded it to an FFL.

Literally just told the deputy over the phone who I got it from, and payed the FFL back what they gave in trade. Got what I paid back from the seller, and that was it.

No courts, no harassment. It was stolen 16 years ago nearly 3K miles away from which both me and other seller were not from.
