Finallly got enough to get a nice .308 semi auto rifle for long range that have been battle proven and accurate. I've narrowed it down to three rifles but can't decide.
-Scar 17 with a 20in barrel configuration.
-LMT MWS
-KAC SR25 ER
Each cost about ~$3500. Should I get any of these or save up and get a SR25 APR?
>>
No, stop now.

I suggest you go with a Savage bolt action, a Burris 4x12, and two thousand dollars worth of ammunition.
>>

Exactly what I did.

>>32032809
You're an idiot, OP
>>
>>32034400
i been thinking about doing this. I want something I can shoot long range with and accurate.
What's PRG stand for?
>>
>>32032809

Alright guys. I have a Savage Axis in .308.

What bipod should i get? Is the Harris good to go? Anything better for the same price point?
>>
>>32034442
PRG is precision rifle general.

>>32035645
Harris tends to be the go to brand. I personally don't go any lower than them. Bipods take a surprising amount of abuse.
>>
>>32032809
honestly "battle proven"is a tag line used to justify a 9001% markup. Semi auto is nice, but also adds quite a bit to the price and is ultimately a conveniance.

I mean, i wont tell you not to go for the Super-sniper battle assassin rifles, but just know you are paying a hell of alot of money basically just for pedigree with no real objective benefits over comperable "consumer" rifles
>>
Don't do semi auto precision rifle for anything other than .223 AR15. Get a Tikka 308/6.5CM or Howa 1500 barrelled varmint action, a Vortex PST 6-24 ffp ebr2c scope, a reloading setup, and components.
>>
What are /PRG/'s opinions of 7mm Rem Mag?
Ballistics are extremely similar to 300WM, but prices are much cheaper. Also ammo seems more plentiful because its a fudd caliber.

Approved to shoot whitetail deer at ranges not to exceed 75 yards

If you're going to drop retarded money on a rifle you might as well buy a GAP 10 G2 and get something worth your time.

Otherwise stop trying to be a special snowflake. If you really insist on semi auto build your own AR10 or buy a Ruger Precision Rifle.

>>
>>32032809
How far are you trying to shoot? AR-pattern rifles aren't particularly great at long range shooting, and .308 isn't ballistically impressive.
For $3500 you could get a decent .300 or 6.5 rifle and good glass, and time at the range.
>>
>>32039871
Ayy nice gen2

Assuming its a 3-18? If its a 4.5-27 where did you get the caps?
>>
>>32040358
It's the 4.5-27. I think it's a #51 Butler Creek on the front and a #19 on the back, but the rear one always pops off.

>Only 30mm scope rings I had lying around was my SSALT for my AR
>This resulted in "Height over bore: The gun"

It's a shit show for the moment, but it shoots straight. Action screws were loose as shit (one was fucking 5 in/lbs) out of the box but all better now. Gonna get a Choat stock when I get the Nightforce.
>>
>>32041463
A couple of 3 round groups (only had one box of match ammo) 175gr Federal GMM

Rifle is capable of so much more, I was having trouble loading the bipod because Harris are cheap shit slingers and the rubber feet don't grop anything. Got a pair of 'Universal' spikes being delivered tomorrow.
>>
>>32041463
Why not just $20 to buy a stock pouch/ cheech riser
>>
>>32041493
Because electrical tape, self adhering gauze, and a camping mat work better, don't slip, and are exactly the height I want. I'm scrapping this shitty Accustock anyway.
>>
>>32041522
To be clear, I'm scraping the stock because the grip angle makes me want to punch babies, not because it's a total failure as a stock. The aluminum bedding system is bretty good.

This is my .22 training rifle, CZ455 Tacticool
>>
>>32041565
It's a champ .22 for the price, this was CCI Mini mags.
>>
Im pricing out my first precision rifle and Im not sure what to look at. I shoot wrong handed if that makes any difference. I also have a nugget so I have a general benchmark on perceived recoil.
>>
>>32041634
Savage makes some good entry level rifles, left handed, in .308

If you get one, get the Accustock, the standard plastic stock is probably the worst POS on the market.
>>
>>32041634
Forgot to put a link in post.

http://savagearms.com/firearms/model/10FLCPSR

If you want to go full retard you can get a fancy stock or chassis to drop it in, trigger, etc...
But the factory rifle with Federal Gold Medal or Black Hills should be sub MOA.

Alsi, the 10 round mags blow, but it accepts the smaller flush fit mags which are GTG
>>
OP here. To clarify why I want a semi auto long range rifle is for heavy rifle/ rapid long range/ and lumberjack competitions, I can explain if anyone doesn't know what competitions they are, which is why I'm looking for a semi auto long range rifle.

The reason why I'm not going with GAP 10, for anyone that wants to know, is because it's heavier, or so I've heard, and the wait period is 8-10 months.
>>
>>32041707
