In the situation that I have to defend myself in my apartment, 00 buckshot will most likely go through the wall. My question is, if it does go through the wall, what legal consequences can I face if the shot hits my neighbors apartment?
>>
>>32032328
Literally all depends on state and circumstances and sometimes local laws as well.

You DO NOT want to have rounds going into your neighbors house. Assume you will be liable for what they do.
>>
>>32032328
Depends on your state/county/local ordinance, however, I'd assume if anyone got hurt (other than the assailant) then it'd be your ass.

Load some shells with small jawbreakers or something, at least they'll be somewhat frangible and you can worry slightly less about blowing your neighbors away.
>>
>>32032328
Use #4 buckshot instead if you're worried, or buy an AR and use that instead.
>>
>>32032328
forgot to mention im in CA
>>
>>32032464
You'd be fucked, use No4 buck.
>>
>>32032359

>>32032479
thanks guy im going to buy it now.
>>
>>32032328
EVERY cartridge that can kill a man can still kill a man after going through 2 layers of drywall. Youre worring over something that cant be helped.
>>
>>32032539
Except for .22, it just bounces around between the drywall layers doing massive damage to the insulation.
>>
>>32032555
Well memed my friend
>>
>>32032443
i can't buy an AR in california after jan 1st. they're banning all modern sporting rifles in california.
>>
>>32032555
checked
>>
>>32032732
what proposition bans modern sporting rifles?
>>
>>32033479
Not the guy you're replying to but they banned detachable magazines, which fucks guns for california
>>
>>32032420
even better than jawbreakers, airsoft bb's
>>
>>32033582
what? even for mini 14/m1a and similar guns?
>>
>>32032328
Use birdshot. #6 or #7 fired from a 12 gauge with a modified or full choke will be sufficient enough to kill at close quarters.
>>
>>32032732
Just get out of that shithole while you still can
>>
>>32032464
Rekt
>>
>>32032328
Use a pistol like a .38
>>
>>32033582
tfw Commiefornia has worse gun laws then even Aus/Canada
>>
>>32035227
no just ARs and AKs, Tavors guns of that ilk with evil features like collapsible stocks, flash suppressors, thumb grips - M1's and Mini M14s should be fine.

just get sexy wood stock and replace flash suppressor with a muzzle brake
>>
>>32032328
Possibly negligent homicide.Might use low power loads in the first round or two. Or salt, bean bags. 2 3/4 after.

Why are AR's less likely to penetrate than buckshot? Seems like it'd be moreso.
>>
>>32036075
Bumping this question for interest.
>>
>>32032464
Thats a pretty fucking big thing to forget. In that case, your best home defense option is a fucking moving van.
>>
>>32036075
5.56/.223 bullets tend to be very unstable and tumble easily. Once that starts happening, they slow down very quickly. That causes significant wounds, but reduced penetration. One pellet of 00 buckshot is similar in weight to a 5.56 bullet, but the spherical shape means tumbling is a non-issue.
>>
>>32035640
Yuck>>32036075
>>
>>32036075
556 fragments/deflects after it hits anything
>>
>>32036075
I didn't believe it either but after some research it is true, an AR pistol is safer than a 9mm apparently

i like my .25 acp, wont be loud or anything, if someone breaks in just pop pop pop 9 rounds into them and i dont think they'll be doing any robbing
>>
5.56 will still penetrate drywall, but it will start to fragment. Using special frangible ammunition would help minimize over penetration as well.

Also Ruger Mini-14s are underrated but a Mossberg 500 with #4 shot will work and be much cheaper.
>>
>>32032328
You can use bird shot. At close range it's practically a slug and if it goes through the wall it won't have much power on the other side so you should collateral anyone
>>
>>32037385
Birdshot is for birds, not people. Humans have actually survived point blank hits with it. It's not lethal enough to be HD ammo nor safe enough to be nonlethal. Stick with buck.
>>
>>32032555
Topkek
>>
>>32032555
Kek, also, checked.
