The whites were building schools for their children could attend, they had tangibly improved their standard of living and the country as a whole. Rhodesia was a breadbasket and extremely prosperous at some points. It may come as a surprise to you but alot of the black locals appreciated it and felt the trade off of not having suffrage etc was worth it. It also came down to tribal lines, certain southern tribes had a warrior culture which lent itself to loyalty and co-operating with the whites.

It really is a sad tale where the vile, western educated communists had the backing of the international community and the white pioneers had a fucking international embargo against them. Once the communists took power they massacred the tribes who co-operated with the whites too, bulldosed their towns and basically just fucked the whole country.

It's a perfect allegory for how a cancerous philosophy can destroy a good thing. "Equality" is a bullshit meme that results in destruction and poverty. You can't have everything at once, letting uneducated locals vote would have fucked their country but they knew that they would gradually be able to rise to the same standard as the whites.

Them educated blacks (mostly professionals as well as businesspeople) are also leaving the country, albiet more gradually than the whites and would go to better african countries (SA, Kenya, Tanzania, and even to former shitholes like Rwanda and Ethiopia).


Brain drain is at all time high and things are made worse with the diasporas aren't feeling like going back and wouldn't contribute to local local economy in term of remittance (unlike Somalia).

When the chinks came to zimbabwe, they tried to persuade some of these people to come back and work for them but apparently the bitter hatred towards Mugabe and the overall bleak prospect made them refuse those offers
