I considered Spear gold dot, seems like the penetration is there, that really all im worried about carrying 380

im pretty interested in this desu since i really like PPKs. Should I look into this or a real PPK/S. I'm ok with either single or double as they both have pros and cons. Anyone have advice? First time buying btw

Hornady XTP (many manufacturers load XTPs) and Federal Hydrashoks are about as good as .380 defensive ammunition gets.

Gold Dots, HST, and other larger expansion bullets tend to suck in .380 where their isn't enough energy to drive them to that 12-18" through ballistics gelatin, whereas XTP and Hydrashoks that have been surpassed in other calibers expand less, but routinely provide adequate penetration.

I'm being offered one for 250 by a co-worker. 3 mags, holster, box of ammo included.

Best part is Califag and he's willing to sell under the table or full-on DROS/10-day wait if preferred. Apprehensive about the former option DESU, since it would make any actual outing with it a bit risky, but it would mean a handgat that the state doesn't know about.

Also I already own tons of firearms and don't really need another, I do have a lot of bills to take care of. Spending 250 right now on yet another gun isn't the smartest home financing.

If you get caught with it, not only is it a felony to have, but you're also in possession of stolen property. I'm not sure about California's specific laws, but I'd guess you'd be look at 5-10 years with those changes.

I have a bersa but sadly it has issues with ignition even after sending it back for factory repair. I hear such issues are common with bersas too. I wouldn't dare trust it for carry now.
