I'm thinking about a Walther PPK/s for concealed carry. How much should I pay? Anything I should know about the gun?
>>

>I'm thinking about a Walther PPK/s for concealed carry.
Rethink this
>>
>>32000478
It's a brick and you're not Bond. If you must, .32 fmj flat nose from Fiocci.
>>
>>32000478
Don't buy a Smith & Wesson PPK. They are shit.
>>
>>32000478
If you really want to go with that style of pistol, go with a mak. Its the same size but in a larger caliber
>>
>>32000478
I love the PPK... but it's really more of a range toy or a "suit gun" than a viable CCW piece these days. It is an outdated, overly expensive firearm in a somewhat ineffective caliber.

If you want one, get one, it will go bang and put holes in things.

That being said, you're much better off looking at any of the literal dozens of 9mm sub-compact pistols, or hell, even a Makarov or PA-63, which are going to be half the price and fire a marginally better round.
>>
>>32000478
Jam o matic piece of shit. Shit controls so it's not even easy to clear the jams. They look pretty but that's it. People who don't know anything will think you're cool but deep down you'll know that's a lie after a few range trips.
>>
>>32000774
Caveat to my own post: I own an Interarms PPK/s, I use it as literally a Tuxedo gun (I wear a Tux a few dozen times a year for Balls/Opera/etc.). I however am aware that as far as guns go, it's no where near the most effective thing I could have on me at any given time. But I figure if I'm going to be in a tux, I may as well have a slightly finicky but fun to own luxury gun to match my Dunhill lighter and the rest of my finicky but fun luxury accessories. Yes, I bought it because it's the Bond Gun, yes I wear it because Bond, is it smart of me in the context of a gunfight? Fuck no.

My normal CCW is a Glock 19.

Get a Bersa instead, it's overall a much better take on the same kind of gun.
>>
Before you buy a ppk just read the Wikipedia article on the history of Ppks and how many high profile assassination attempts where they have been used and had a failure.

Also ignore the misguided fools suggesting a Bersa Thunder. Out of the box the gun is fine for the price but they always fail and when they do they fail hard. And Bersa/Eagle customer support is one of the worst in the industry with a molasses slow turnaround time on repair orders.

t. Former ppk fanboy and jaded bersa owner
>>
>>32000478
Don't do it James.
>>
>>32000929
>external slide lock
>overtravel stop on the trigger
>front sight isn't fixed to the slide
That addresses most of my complaints about the PPK. I think they make them double stack too.
>>
>>32001128
Yep.

The Thunder Plus holds like 15rds in a really not much bigger package.
>>
>>32001056
>limp wristed, the post

bersa at 40,000 rounds here, you're a faggot
>>
>>32001056
Is that in another lanaguage because the english wiki doesnt have that info.
>>
>>32000478
The Glock 43 was been very popular for subcompact CCW since it came out a few months ago. I'm happy with mine.
>>
Thanks anons.

Didn't actually want it because Bond. Never actually seen a Bond movie. Will look into the Bersa a little more.

If something breaks in a gun, why the fuck wouldn't you just buy the part and fix it yourself instead of repairing it?

I doubt you did something super retarded, like damaged the frame by throwing it like a retard.
>>
Hitler killed himself with a Walther PPK

Günsche stated that Hitler "... sat ... sunken over, with blood dripping out of his right temple. He had shot himself with his own pistol, a Walther PPK 7.65". The gun lay at his feet and according to SS-Oberscharführer Rochus Misch, Hitler's head was lying on the table in front of him. Blood dripping from Hitler's right temple and chin had made a large stain on the right arm of the sofa and was pooling on the carpet.

No they aren't. What's /k/'s deal with thinking the ppk/s is shit but the bersa is great?

Oh, it's 99% poorfag here. Right.
>>
How about you get an actual good gun like a pps m2
>>
>>32006383
It would be fascinating to find out Hitler lived and what he did for the rest of his life.

>>
>>32000537
They're really not. They're a fun and still effective gun. Yeah, they're not the latest and greatest thing, but they're accurate, feel great in the hand, and with the proper ammo are very capable concealed carry gun.

P64. Less than half the price, double the reliability, more powerful round, sane size.

They're pretty fun if you take them at face value.

A lot of the old ones are a bit weird, which probably has to do with the books being weird, because Ian Flemming was a very strange person.
>>
>>32006904
The trigger is rape and it's kind of a tiny package to handle.

I suggest a Bersa, Astra, Makarov, FEG, or a full-sized Walther PP over it.

>>32006962
I can run thousands of shells through a slambang shotgun, just for the sake of arguing.
>>
I wanna say that the PPK is, like, the original memegun, but at the end of the day, get whatever you like. Reliability and comfort should be your principal considerations.
>>
>>32007286
Bond was never meant to be taken too seriously. The movies especially are at their best when they're just a hair short of parodying themselves.
>>
>>32007318
Comfort especially. Most guns are going to be reliable enough, including the PPK. The main factor in a carry gun should always just be how comfortable you are with all aspects of it. Doesn't matter if it's a Glock or a fucking Nambu, as long as you are intimately familiar and confident with your weapon.
>>
anyone have experience with the smaller sig sauers?
>>
>>32007358
but the PPK is stupidly comfortable to hold.
>>
>>32007381
Like I said, if it works for you, more power to you.

Fuck, I carry a P38, predominantly because the grips, controls, and general feel just work for me. Besides, I've ran thousands of rounds through the thing and would trust it to hell and back. Would I recommend it to most people? Probably not. But the damn thing just works for me.

At the end of the day, you do you.

I have a wolff 18 lb. spring and a 20 lb recoil. DA is no problem for me. But to each their own. It's a very well made reliable weapon.

I know very little of Bersa's history. Anyone know if Nazi fugitives ever actually got involved in the company? Because that would be sort of fitting.
>>
>>32007323
I really agree with you, but only to a point, because Goldeneye was extremely good.

this

walthers are jam-o-matics unless the springs & ammo are perfect

and don't forget the 25lb DA trigger pull

For those who dont know the story, Ian Flemming was advised by one of his readers to use the Walther PPK for his Bond character

They haven't been shit since the early 2000s when S&W took over production from Interarms using bins of parts manufactured by three separate companies; Walther, Interarms and Smiff & Weston. The parts didn't play nicely together.

OP, you can do much better than a PPK for concealed carry. Have a look at an M&P Shield for starters.
>>
>>32008245
>and don't forget the 25lb DA trigger pull
My Nagant laughs at your puny trigger pull. The DA pull is supposed to be about 20lbs, but I measured it closer to 35lbs.

If you're a historyfag like me and .32 acp doesn't scare you away, these are really nice guns and pretty underrated. I don't carry often, but when I do, this is my carry gun. It's very comfortable and accurate.
>>
>>32000478
buy a 9mm knockoff
>>
>>32000478
If you want a pocket pistol, get a sig. Walthers are for girls.
>>
>>32000929
This. Wanted a PPK, bought the Bersa. Not as pretty, but a better gun.
>>
>>32002945
Got 1,000 through mine. Works better than ever.
>>
>>32014458
Get someone to nickel plate it and get some nice wood or pearl grips made for it.

If this is the Plus model with flush fitting 15rd mags, this is even better, then it's a bit more powerful than what an average person might at first glance.
