Though the pmag is more reliable that does not negate the fact that many USGI mags out there work just fine.

Canadian C7 upper has A1 style sights with a Forward assist and a shell deflector. I used one for my last retro build

There is nothing wrong with a plain AR-15. I have tons of PMAGs yes, but the STANAGs are absolutely fine especially if they have the anti tilt follower which was the only upgrade it ever needed imo. Nothing wrong with normal irons as well especially if you feel like you don't have a need for optics

Give you and anyone else a tip: you can use straight edges as a sight if you have a pair of them. Takes some practice, and it isn't a fast way to aim and it's only good until the bullet drops, but if you have something with a square receiver that's like a foot long the lines will point at the target. Bonus skill is that I can eye up a shelf by giving it a quick one to two second glance.
