Dudes doing group buys probably won't risk ripping you off when there's so much more money to be made just doing more buys. That said I wasn't part of it so I can't tell you one way or the other what my experience was, cause I'm a cheap fuck who would rather wait 2 months for a deal

I've got roughly 400 rounds through it, which I know is by no means a definitive amount of rounds, but I'm paying close attention to all the rivets and pins after each range visit. Nothing to report on that so far.

My gun is one of the legacy, non-hammer forged models that you could get on Classic Firearms. If I remember correctly, it has a mix of US made and surplus parts.

So far, it shoots point of aim, cycles smoothly (still needs to be broken in I think), and hasn't had any malfunctions.

In terms of mag lockup on what I have, the plums are really tight, the bakelites a little bit looser, and the Bulgarian commercial mags pretty lose, but I don't particularly care for those mags.

The mags were stolen in transit, I figured that it would be safer to refund the order than send a list of felonies to the USPS.

>baffle

>>
>>32002605
Open end- flash hider, air sucks in through side ports as the bullet passes through due to vacuum effect

Closed end- brake, blast is directed out the side ports as the bullet exits the end of the device (the end baffle opening is just big enough for the bullet to exit)
>>
>>32002573
Yup. I'm the anon who bought the mags. You took care of me and I appreciate it. Pretty strange though, I've never had anything stolen in transit before. But, with the panic that was in effect due to a possible Hillary presidency, I'm not surprised.

High cap mags? No sir, they only hold nine rounds of .458 socom, which would have been their intended use ;)

The only downsides it has vs. an Aimpoint are ability to warranty/service, and brightness. They max brightness on those is about 85% what you'd get on an aimpoint.
If you live in a very bright, light colored environment, I'd go aimpoint. Otherwise, it's fine.

I was thinking like 2 or 3. I have a very robust machine shop of my own so it's pretty trivial for me to bend some 80% receivers and slap them together. I'm just confused about 922r compliance and stuff. If I bought a disassembled yugo with a chopped receiver/barrel and just replaced them it would be illegal? I read that you can't use more than ten imported parts but I also read that you only need ten american made parts? So with an american manufactured receiver, barrel, furniture, trigger group and mag it would be legal? Would a muzzle brake add to that or would it be totally superfluous?

Please help I'm thoroughly confused

>>
>>32009865
Also another thing is the law specifically states the assembly itself is illegal. Is it illegal to own a non compliant gun if you didn't assemble it? Like if you bought one from a gun show that had one too many foreign parts could you theoretically be prosecuted for it?
>>
>>32009982
If you have to ask--well, remember that the government can do pretty much anything it wants. Maybe you can get a lawyer--if they don't kill you in the process--and spend the next thirty years of your life in courtrooms suing the government trying to get some kind of redress. That's assuming the government doesn't say "neener neener, sovereign immunity," too.

Somebody will no doubt be along shortly and tell you that if you don't blab about it you'll be fine, but you've already posted to an Internet message board monitored closely by the BATF. Hope you're behind seven proxies, d00d.

I'm sure Rob had the misfortune of getting the only DDI ever made with a shit extractor and all the other rifles made are bombproof, merely a coincidence that Rob got the only bad rifle they ever made!

DDI is still at the forefront of US made AKs in my opinion though, since they're actually forging some parts now, but clearly they have some serious kinks to work out.

People forget the occasional rare lemon is a thing.
You can go buy a brand new car and there's a chance that it'll take a shit within 1,000 miles because of an uncommon defect. That doesn't make it a bad car. Now, if everybody who buys these has the same problem, that's entirely different.
>>
>>32010058

>>
>>32009865
>>32009982

922r is literally a non issue that will never matter ever. its a add-on charge, that is if someone gets caught with a SBR or full auto or something they actually take seriously and they're throwing as many charges as possible at a person then they'll tack it on. if you have a rifle and the pistol grip isnt made in the US or whatever the fuck ever for parts count no one is going to give a fucking care in the entire world.

yes the atf enforces stupid laws that can get you fucked like having a barrel thats 15.9 inches long and you go to prison but 922r is pretty much beyond a reasonable doubt impossible to prove anyways. you could walk up to an ATF agent at a range and tell him youre rifle is non 922retard compliant and he wont care because its freaking carved piece of wood that has no origin markings and theres no way to tell if it is made here or 1000 miles away because its a damn piece of wood.

It does show that the average person could, even if unlikely, pick up one of their rifles and have a critical failure in a tiny amount of rounds.
That's not the kind of performance U.S. consumers expect for the most part.
>>
>>32010379
I'm just thinking finishing the conversion will cost about 350-400 more dollars, FSB, Gas Chamber, Handguard retainer, welding holes, and refinishing the entire rifle.
>>
>>32010319
Statistically that is true but from my perspective it still seems like a bizarre coincidence that Rob would be the guy to get the one rifle they ever made with a shit extractor. I am not so forgiving. I've never even heard of a milsurp extractor claw completely breaking off.

Even on my 106CR, which had stuck casings literally every round, this was not a problem. The casings would stick, and the extractor would skip the rim. I'd palm the charging handle to knock the extractor back over the case rim, then mortar the stuck case out. The extractor was still fine after doing this around 100 times. The 106CR's bolt is based on an AKM bolt and has the same beefy extractor.

I'm confident in the heat treat, it was done professionally. At the very least it doesn't scratch or dent. It has a healthy amount of flex and it's too tough for stamping my name on it.

The bends and everything else was me fucking it up. I made the receiver myself a few years ago on clapped-out harbor freight tools.

My dad threw it at me when I turned 18 but it failed to feed every third round on EVERY magazine I could stuff in there until I made a new receiver for it. It hasn't had a single failure of any sort in the thousands of rounds since, so even though it's ugly I think it's pretty good.

The big factor to consider is that AMD65 from Classic has very soft barrels...like at 8 when normal barrels are at 26.
>>
>>32011270
I'm just gonna post them here for now, they might show up though if I'm bored.
>>
>>32011317
I know, I just want an AK for cheap.
>>
>>32011327
No I am. He's wounded and responding, and that 64890 guy has reported in. Pile on guys
>>
>>32011295
This is AK land. We don't have those here. We have benises and furniture.
>>
>>32011343
WASRs seem to be going down, especially the used ones. Someone was trying to sell theirs here last night for like $500.
>>
>>32011360
If I like the AK enough, I'm going to trade up. And Im going to buy new.
>>
>>32011295
>foreend
It's called a fucking handguard.
>>
>>32011358
This pic related there's no benis holder on the gas tube to put the furniture into

Check out amd65tech for some hotness
>>
>>32011416
>>
>>32011354
Oh, kek.
>>
>>32011277
Fitting a wood or polymer lower handguard to an AMD65 takes five minutes with a dremel. The gas tube does not have the provision to mount an upper handguard, unless you shorten a standard length gas tube and flare the end. If you want standard furniture on a rifle the amd65 isn't for you, and the classic rifles are terrible in barrel quality.

Sounds like you should just buy a wasr, it's hard to explain without showing you, if you dont have a good visual understanding of how the parts interact

Hey quick question /akg/
do you think a bulgy 74 cleaning rod will fit into my SAR-2? a fellah on the files has one for 5 bucks and im gonna snatch it up if it will fit.

what a surprise

>>32011961
The threads on the cleaning rod will probably be different than the ones on the kit
>>
I came across an old funny article today. Who will win the domestic ak production. Century with their RAS or DDI. The competition is fierce
>>
>>32012009
Literally doesn't matter tho because anyone who is serious about AKs won't buy either
>>
>>32012214
Yes, they'll order a shitty foreign one with canted sights and paint that flakes off while you shoot it.

I'm not saying it is or isn't, but sometimes parkerization is that lightly colored. I have several Russian parts that are parkerized and are very pale, almost that exact shade. It would be very unusual for the receiver to just be bare steel with no park. Parkerizing is just part of the manufacturing process, it would be a huge step to skip. However if it wasn't parkerized that could also explain why the paint isn't holding.

the porous looking metal ON the bolt face is a ship, DDI is lying saying its a feature so the bolt doesnt contact the extractor as much, if thats the case then, I guess ddi cuts corners and doesn't finish the metal right? thats bare unfinished metal.

But in reality and DDI's lying aside, the metal is chipping like just I.O's bolt break.

pretty sure half of akg has ar's also, but unlike arg we dont circle jerk around brand names and actually shoot our guns

Not all saiga's are either, they started getting cheap towards the end and stop parking them, arsenal bulgaria is paint over park, they use the same shit paint as izhmash though.

The Israelis make, or at least used to make, back in the 80s, tear gas rounds for a number of small arms calibers.

The amount of chemical agent is miniscule and I believe that to get them to release it quickly they have to fire the bullet at a concrete pavement or brick wall close to the rioters.

I don't know whether they still make them--they seem like kind of a half-baked idea--and the only semi-successful small arms round that acts as a tear gas/irritant chemical delivery system is the old AAI "Ferret" 12 gauge slug, which carried just enough tear gas to make people inside an automobile very uncomfortable, and had sufficient mass to paint the hostage's brains all over the inside of the vehicle "I shot Marvin in the face" style if the user isn't very skilled and very close.
