I was pretty close with a fairly attractive girl a year older than me in high school. We kept a close friendship throughout college (she's a year older than me). She went to OU, I went to Texas Tech. She decided to come visit Lubbock with some of her sorority sisters during duck season, my housemates were going hunting the next day and when we got home from the bars my housemates had their shotguns set out on the supper table and decoys were strung from the chairs and sitting on the floor by the front door. She didn't seem to mind, we drank a bit more I hugged her goodbye and said I'll see you tomorrow for lunch. Next day she said her sorority sisters ditched her and needed a ride, so I picked her up for lunch with my AR in a hard case on the backseat of my truck because I was going to call for coyotes that evening after lunch. She indicated she wanted to hang out afterwards so I said "let's get some camo for you and we can call for yotes in a field and you can see some of the fun"
Nothing came in so we shot at a couple beer cans for an hour and afterwards she seemed very uninterested.
Fast forward a year, we both moved back to Austin, we went to a movie and things went swimmingly. Kiss a little bit, she asks what I've got going on the next day, I tell her I'm going to my friend's land to bang some gongs, invite her because I know her family is pro-gun.

I had a conversation with my gf today about guns. She's a strict anti-funs hard left liberal.

I bought a CCW the other day, 3 days before the election in anticipation of bullshit. I live in a major city in a blue state.

That being said there was no compromise from her end. So after a few days of cooling off I bring it up again and explain that I'll be getting said gun and we can either come to a compromise or I'll do it unilaterally.

Well we did, but there are like 10 stipulations, most of which I conceded to. A few I didn't which caused more arguments and breakdowns from her.

Well fast forward to today. I brought up breaking up with her, she cried. I walked away from her, then called her to discuss dinner plans. I explained how she was moving the goal posts and that if she refused to concede on her points then we need to decide on a mediator who's arbitration we agree on otherwise we need to break up as we're both too stubborn to give in.

Anyway, yea. Guns and women are shit together. But you don't really choose who you love.

The thing is that I'm partially to blame. My wife and her weren't just sisters, they were best friends. After she moved out with me they saw each other less and less. My sister in law was the sheltered baby of the family, so she didn't take well to solitude. She went online and got offended for the misgendered and all that shit. That's the thing - I thought we were way closer than this. I've taken time off of work to help them move, helped them with their cars, gave one of them my old TV, even stepped in to provide moral support when they came out. In exchange they helped me with cosplay stuff. I always figured it was a pretty fair trade. In retrospect though, I sometimes got treated like a second-class friend. As for the KKK, I'm fairly certain at least one Grand Wizard supported Hillary too, and she had nothing but praise for the late Sen. Robert "Barbaric" Byrd, who was also a KKK member way back in the day. As callous as it sounds, I really don't think you can judge a candidate of any stripe by the people who cling on to them, because those people are going to cling to some candidate one way or the other.
