Alright /k/, I'm wanting to get a Mosin nagant, where is the best place to buy one and what should the price range be?
>>31993219
Don't.
>>31993219
Do. $100-$250 check the bore.
>>31993219
it's not worth it anymore. Just spend 400-500 on a nice mauser instead. The nuggets are too expensive nowadays for what they're worth. Or you can get an SKS. There's a decent deal on aimsurplus for an SKS right now.
>>31993226
Ignore him.
I can't really say precisely where the best place to get one is, but $180-$230 or so is fair or an M91/30, with prices obviously being higher for the various other variants.
It doesn't give you much help with pricing, but http://7.62x54r.net/ will cover pretty much any other information.
>>31993254
>ignore him, buy the shitty rifle you're going to regret purchasing in a few months
I have a 91/30. It's shit, ammo is shit, the rifle is shit, I carry literally every other milsurp rifle through the woods before I even think of grabbing the mosin. OP get an Enfield or a Mauser or some shit you'll be way happier with in a years time. Hell, if you see a 1903 for a steal, buy that with no second thought.
>>31993219
They're not worth it anymore.
They were worth it when it was a cheap package.
The gun was cheap and the ammo was cheap to go with it. You spend 200 and you get a gun with 400+ rounds of ammo. Now ammo is about .35 per bullet and the gun is around 200. Sure you spend 350-400 and you get the same deal, but save yourself some cost over time and get an SKS.
>Full-size cartridge though
Let's face it, the thing isn't a hunting rifle. Can you hunt with it: yes. Do you want to: no. The SKS is lighter and semi auto, the ammo is cheaper, and with enough practice you can reliably hit any entry level game you're looking to take. The mosin will take the same amount, if not more practice and will cost more in the long run.
It all comes back to cost. We loved it when it was cheap to buy and cheap to shoot because it was the most cost effective way to plink outside .22 and reloading. Do yourself a favor and get a .22 for a first plinker and/or an SKS for a multipurpose gun. If you need full-size caliber I don't know enough to recommend one, but I heard savage bolt guns are quality and inexpensive
Stressed students .02
>>31993243
Op here. What kind of Mauser do you recommend?
>>31993402
Not him but I heard 24/47's are a good deal
>>31993243
>He ACTUALLY THINKS Mausers are worth more than $20
Holy kek that is hilarious.
OP just get yourself an AR or a Remington 700, either of those will outshoot any milsurp Mauser.
Face it, when you can get a modern bolt gun for less than $300, milsurp just isn't worth it.
>>31993548
Op here, I already have an AR. Recently bought it. I guess I just like old ww2 rifles.
>>31993587
Why though? They're all shit. I can outshoot them all with my eyes closed on my Savage 110, and I can buy ammo for my Savage at Walmart.

Once we start trading with russia again it will go back to normal.
>>31993587
Just don't buy a nugget because you think it's cheap. If you're into WWII bolt actions pretty much any other bolt action is going to be better built and designed. Expect at least 200 for a 91/30, 300+ for m44 or Finnish
Gaaaahhhhhhh i need a bolt head or another complete bolt. Theres none spare in nz and its a clusterfuck to get one imported from the us of a! Daddy wants to go pop pop with his nugget!
Want to buy an M91 because muh longer rifle and muh history but heard that some of these older rifles are shot out or "parts rifles". I guess my question i what should I watch out for to make sure I end up with a good one?
>>31993635
>Good one
>Milsurp
Pick only 1.
>>31993618
>Thinks it will go back to .13 per round when the market is buying at .35
It'll drop to .25 minimum, still making the SKS more economical
>>31993602
>why do you like driving a standard transmission
>automatics are better in every way other than fun
This may come as some surprise, but people like different things
What ammo does /k/ use for mosin hunting deer?
>>31993273
you bought a shit mosin then, which reflects on your idiocy more than anything
>>31995861
>shit mosin
You could have just said Mosin,
>>31995794
The kind that fits in a better rifle. If you must, any soft tip will do.
>>31993602
>those groupings with that hardcore rifle stand
he should be literally ashamed to post that online, then again he doesn't seem to understand that concept
>>31995549
Yeah and those tards are dumb as fuck. Don't waste your money.
>>31996085
He could have just said milsurp, they're all the same.
So how much is a "normal" price for 54r these days? I just missed the time where I could get spam cans of 440 for $90 shipped, but it's looking to be >50c/rnd. Am I just looking in the wrong places?
>>31999555
>last week fucked around and scored a triple double
Waste though
Get mauser instead
>>31999827
im in ny so prices are shit here, i havent seen a tin go for less than 220 all year. i havent been able to force myself to spend that much. im gonna have to get one soon though cause ive only got 100rds left.
Whats a decent price for PPU or other non-corrosive 54r?
