>China's principal radar manufacturer, the China Electronics Technology Group Corporation (CETC), exhibited at Airshow China 2016 a number of air defence radars it claims can detect low-observable aircraft such as the Lockheed Martin F-22 Raptor and F-35 Lightning II fighters.

>Chinese news media reported that these radars are being marketed for export to any country with a requirement to counter such stealth capabilities.

So, radar? The radars that Russians have been building for decades?

Shit. My govt needs to buy that.

Different anon here - I did, what's the big deal? They built some UHF / VHF radars, again, same as Russia's been doing for years.

Russia doesn't sell anti-stealth radars.

Yes, according to you yourself it's a generation ahead of the Russians, but it's not. There is nothing advanced enough about it for it to be considered a "generation ahead" of any other modern system. It's quite literally just an ordinary military radar system.
>>
>>31984894

Radar technolgy is one of China's strong fields.

Just to showcase this advantage. How many Russian aircraft have AESA radars?
Meanwhile it's standard for Chinese aircraft for a long point.

That's the combination of strong research in that field and an industry to back it up.

China is buying entire S-400 battalions so outside chicom shills, not even the chinese military has faith in their radars.
Had chinese radars worked they would have bought missiles only and tried to integrate them with their own radars but alas, chinese radars are SHIT.

I don't understand this whole "anti-stealth radar, america BTFO" thing.

Even if the radars can detect stealth planes as reliably and effectively as non-stealth planes (which obviously they can't, but whatever), isn't it STILL a victory for the US, since they're forcing all of these countries to spend tons of money on new, specialized equipment?

I wonder, as a percentage of overall defense budgets, who is spending more: The US/allies on stealth, or everyone else on anti-stealth?
>>
>>31984800
Maybe they can use it to find that fucking space station they lost.

But anon, aircraft have been obsolete since 1915, when the first aircraft was shot down by a canon.

The tank was made obsolete in 1916-1917 by the first anti-tank guns.

Even though aircraft have been obsolete for a very long time, the yanks built invisible ones. But since now they aren't invisible, they are completely useless.
>>
>>31984800
>Why is America losing so bad in the stealth war?

Wake me up when any Chink system actually manages to counter and destroy a US stealth plane. Until then, it's all about China struggling to keep up with the rest of the class.
>>
>>31986161

Jingoism aside the Chinks have made some massive strides in that direction.
>>
>>31986185
>Jingoism aside the Chinks have made some massive strides in that direction.
Have they? We pretty much have to take everything at their word because they're never going to actually deploy anything.
>>
>>31986019
I don't think you realize what kind of a money pit F35 is.

>US$1.508 trillion
>>
>>31986198
The F(X)-35 was already known to the media in 2002, and yet was never deployed until pretty recently.
>>
>>31986225
No. Less that 1 trillion by now, and still falling.

To. Operate. More. Than. 2000. Planes. For. 50. Years.
>>
>>31986225

Maybe. But remember, I'm thinking as a PERCENTAGE of defense budgets, not total costs. Yes, the F-35 is very expensive, but the US also spends a lot more already. Granted, other countries would also be fielding new radars regardless of whether they had to defeat stealth or not, so perhaps it doesn't mean much.

Also, in addition to this point:>>31986257, the US was going to replace its planes anyway, so I feel you'd have to look at those costs minus the costs of a non-stealth program that does all of the same other stuff. Isn't the stealth aspect of the F-35 not the most costly part anyway? I was under the impression that the stealth technology was one of the relatively easy aspects of the platform to implement.

How to these 'anti-stealth' radars compare in terms of cost and utility to 'normal' radars? If there were no stealth planes to worry about would these still be useful enough for countries to be building them anyway?
>>
>>31984952

Don't bother, Chinese think that everything their country achieves deserves a fucking medal, even if it's basic shit other nations have already achieved.

It's like that Chris Rock bit on "black people vs. niggas". Chinese will claim they are peace-loving cause "we wuz not imperialists and shit". What do you want, a cookie? You're not supposed to be imperialists, you low-expectation-having motherfuckers.
>>
>>31984910
>Just to showcase this advantage. How many Russian aircraft have AESA radars?

This is the same intellectually dishonest argument used with Chinese ships having AESA.

China has the luxury of building up its fleet of modern aircraft and ships -now-, countries like Russia or the USA already have existing fleets of modern aircraft and ships.
>>
>>31986507
>Maybe. But remember, I'm thinking as a PERCENTAGE of defense budgets, not total costs.

Still no where near as large as you are pretending.
>>
Seems just like normal radar. I don’t know who the market might be, everyone who can buy radar who needs it seems to already have it.

There is no suggestion it works either.
>>
>>31986019
Since radars started as low frequency devices the cost of developing these radars is trivial compared to developing a stealth fighter.

If you look closely you will see that the low frequency radars use Yagi antennas and large dipoles, a bit similar to TV antennas. This is old technology. The beam is steered using phase shifting, another technology that predates WWII. most of the electronics is not more advanced than any ordinary TV receiver. Only in the software is there a lot of finesse.

>>31984910
