Huh, in BCT we had to have a "battle buddy" at all times and that person had to stand outside the shitter with two rifles so the person in the shitter didn't kill themselves with it. Luckily, that meant that shit breaks took twice as long because you had to switch and hold your buddies rifle so you could get away from the bleachers and waiting for literally 8 hours every range day.

You have to do that in bootcamp. Real Marines are generally trusted with weapons in the head, exceptions being at the KD range and other gay places frequented by POGs

I went through MCT at the very beginning of 2011. We just had to keep our phones in our wall lockers and not use them.

We got ours once or twice on Sundays for an hour. My dumb ass didn't bring mine because the MCT First Sergeant told us hiring his brief at the end of boot camp not to bring it to MCT.

2014 our phones were collected and hid somewhere. The only time we got them was when we finished the land nav course under a certain time with no errors. I got there with less than 2 minutes left, and my dumb ass didn't draw the marker point tags. I got all the right positions and was running from point to point, but didn't record anything.
