Total AR-15 newfag here, I asked you guys earlier today what a good red dot would be for 50-200 yard shooting and you said the t-2. I did some reading and I think it's what I'm going to go with, but I did notice something. Some of the articles I read mention putting a magnifier in front of the sight. What is that? Do you combine a red dot with a scope for a scoped red dot? If so, what is a good one to purchase for 50-200 yard shooting? Are there adjustable ones so I can go from 200 yard to 50 yard with just a couple adjustments?

JBLM is supposed to have a nice public range but I don't know if you can drive on base with a trunk full of guns. I'm guessing not.

PBRSC only does 500yd shoots upon scheduled requests and I'm fairly certain those shoots are only 400-500 because the nearer berms are obscured by the berm you're shooting from on top of.

Get a set of channel locks or vice grips for the roll pins.

A long screwdriver with the appropriate head for your grip nut.

An armorers wrench for the castle nut, but you could probably do it with big channel locks, big balls, and not caring if you scratch the shit out of it.

This is the part where it gets SUPER poorfag.

Loctite on your castle nut instead of using a center punch to stake it. Make sure you like your endplate a lot.

if you have a vice, a magazine well vice block is a cheap third hand if you think you'll build another.
phillips screwdriver
punches, roll pin punches if you're feeling fancy, vice grip pliers can substitute for both roll pis, personal preference but the punches will also come in handy as guides for installing the FCG
small hammer if you're using punches
a real thin, flat piece of metal is nice for installing the pivot pin's detent, a razor blade works nicely

the only specialized tool you need to assemble a lower is castle nut wrench if you're going carbine stock

I think I prefer handstop setups over foregrips for longer barrels.

Okay faggots, thinking about doing an A1 clone. What is there out there for 20" barrels that aren't $300 fucking dollars? Was looking to stick with a pencil barrel for weight and correctness, but didn't have much luck finding anything at a reasonable price.

Might be willing to go with a govt profile since I am not aiming for perfection, just looking to have a carry handle with A1 furniture that doesn't cost too much so I can pretend to it ain't me.

Also, is there any decent detachable carry handles out there that don't cost as much as a stripped a2 upper? I got a stock M&P with the mbus on it and would like to have a detachable on it.
